Time to report in Guardians
« on: February 26, 2004, 01:12:58 PM »

Ok i hope the subject cought some of your eyes  anyway im asking all the guardians to make this a serious topic since i know some of you like to get off topic. Well as you all know we have our own server now i want you all too give me your thoughts and or oponions on this if you have any.

We need to take advantage of our server now that we finally have one i think we should have 2-3 practices a week maybe even sign up for a league eventually cause i know we all have alot of skill in us. I know some of us are able to work good in two on two situations what not but we need to be able to work as a clan  ..

Anyway give me your thoughts on the subject i wont sign up or anything if you all think we shouldn't.

I am all for the idea of practicing often and taking things a bit more seriously, but I am limited by the amount of time that I can commit to the sort of thing and have shyed away from the idea of league play.

I am busy with school and many other things that I will spare everyone the details of.

If, hypothetically, we were to say something like practices every tuesday and thursday, realisically, I would only be able to make it once a week, if that.

For league play, again, I would have hard time guaranteeing that I could make it. Generally, on friday and saturdays I dont play until after 11pm MT.

If we can get something together, I will defenetly try to contribute as much as I can.

This is something I would love to do. I believe we can make something of a really good team out there in league-land if we are able to practice together on our own server.

The key to sucess as a clan in league-land is teamwork I would say, rather than outright individual skill...

Anyway, Im jumping ahead, practice comes first before you can get that far, so as if you hadnt guessed already, sign me up scotty....

Im free basically any evening of the week, I always set aside time for CS even when I have coursework to do (purely to relax you understand) Bear in mind I am 5 hours ahead, so sometimes I may not be able to make a late night in the US...

I 100% agree with this, and let me tell what I know from my experience in clans for cs with leagues.

At least 1 time a week to practice is good, makes people get togheter and more closer.  As a clan it's good and fun to practice togheter.  Not everybody can always make it, but talking togheter about what would be the best day, then we put a day of week and time, like 9pm eastern on wednesday, it makes everybody know that every week on wednesday at 9pm we have a practice, try to make it plz but we won't beat you if you don't come hehe.

As for league, I would love to get into one, that's the best way to play CS in my opinion, that's where CS gets at it's better because there we see the potential of strategy.  But to get in a league, I don't think we have enough players in clan.  We have something like 8 players active I would say, having around 12+ would be better.  Why?  Well when we get to the night of the matches, it happens often that many people can't make it at last minute or just can'T make it that day, having other people who can play in case others can is always good.  Too often I saw my old clan lose because we had not enough people showing off,  and it happens a lot to other clans too.

And if we get in a league, try to get one with matches during week.  Why?  Because during week nights people don't do much and have time to play, during week-ends, people go out of town, or just do other stuff than playing on their computer.

My 2 meows,

Sure, I am up for practices and league play. Any time is good for me. My only limiting factor is my 56k/AOL connection which might not serve me well in some servers. The Guardian server was just fine for me one night but unplayable another. Hopefully the laggy incident was a one time thing. Also they are bringing high-speed to my area soon, so then it won't be a problem.

I'm for practices...not for league play.  That shouldn't be what this clan is about.  Frankly, I never thought of it as a media for that.  Guardian is supposed to a clan that leads by example, that is the point of it.  We are a clan of people who come together to support types of playing environments namely, CSR and the type that Porter is trying to build.  I'm very sad when it comes to the fact that I've seen so many members of this clan seeming to hold grudges against other members, and so much of a pull in different directions of what this clan is supposed to be about.  The idea is that we are friends who take each others back.  If a guardian clan member says, "need backup", the rest of the clan should be trying to give him back up.  If a clan member jumps out into an intersection and looks left, you should be looking the other direction or helping him dispatch the guy he starts shooting at, not waiting for him to die, then finish the enemy.  This might sound like basic CS to some people, but it's what I think alot of other servers are missing, and lately it seems even this one....

If people want to start meeting like once a week or so to try and solidify playing as a team, then I am all for that.  If people want to get a couple intra-clan scrims, I'm all for that.  If people think we are in league contention...I somewhat doubt that, but would applaud their effort.  I personally don't have the time nor effort of doing so.

I do think having like a weekly guardian night could be fun or something, just to see how many people we can get together, etc though.  Working as a team is something we as a clan could do better.

I agree with a part of what you say tenshi, yes thoses points are good points to be as a clan.

But you know, we don't have to only be support, we can do stuff on our own too.  If you're not interested in leagues that's too bad, but I think the clan has the right to choose.  Unless this is some despot clan what I don't think this is.  Nobody forces you to play clan matches, you can continu like you do right now, but you would still be all the same gang.  Playing on pubs servers is fun, but sometimes people want some better challenge, and that's what leagues are for.

Nobody if forced to anything, anybody not feeling like playing a match isnt forced to.  If we lose because we hadnt enough people well that's life.  You'll just find me bitchy

I think right now most of the clan is up to it though... so we'll see how it goes.

Well said Tenshi.

It was apparent to me well before I joined, and believe that it still holds true, that we are the most respectable clan on the server. I am still reletivly new to the history and have no clue about any grudges that are/were going on, but this clan is truely a great thing. We are here to have fun and play the game with integrity (and for some of us to flirt with high school boys )  and that is what matters most to me.

having one weekly Guardian night sounds like an awsome idea to me. We could play on Kitty's server to practice against ourselves and some pub player and maybe bounce over to CSR to gang up against the other regulars.

Yeah, you're very right about that, and trust me: I'm certainly less happy about that than you are. Still, if I didn't have to keep trying to make up for RG's mistakes, I might have more time to enjoy myself.

Truth be told, I won't have time to really play until summer break, and even then it'll be hit or miss depending on my work schedule.

Nevertheless, slackers like Darkmage and Ryo should get off their rears and get in-game. Yuna and yu^rei and Tenshi should do the same when their schedules allow.

I would like to point out that *both* Porter and I still play relatively often on the server given our schedules.  I've spent the past 7 weeks putting up two mainstage plays simulatneously, basically spending most of my life in my Fine Arts building--talk about long hours.

And as for the respectable comment:  you are most certainly entitled to your opinion.  And I say as such in all honesty with no alterior motives.  I must admit that I do respect the Guardian Clan.

I just want to clarify my original 'respectable' comment a bit.

My perspective, from when I first started playing on CSR there was a buch of trash going on involving Team/Clan Holy. And that is something that I found quite distasteful. I was just here to play a game and have a bit of fun and Guardian was the most visible clan that I played around that shared the same goals.

As of now, with more members, I would have to say that Guardian is defenetly the most visible clan on the server currently and we have done nothing to tarnish our image.
