If there is one thing that Valve know, it is how to ensure that Half-Life 2 is a massive success.
Releasing a free editor for models and maps absolutely ensures the huge community involved with Half-Life 1 will feel totally comfortable changing over to Half-Life 2.
A masterstroke, and the program looks the absolute business.

Yeah, that was a smart move, for both companies. Consider the benefit of thousands of kids all over the world teaching themselves this "industry standard" software. These companies are going to be able to hire guys that are pre-trained (for free!) on their stuff. Brilliant.

I am so excited at the prospect of getting to use this software, and my holiday starts in just 2 days time, so I'll be really quite into it soon I expect.
