New Map Rotation?

Could we possible remove a couple maps from the rotation? There are a couple maps that just empty the server. For instance today there was about 14-16 peopl eon the server playing i think maybe aztec then it went to survivor... server was emptied in about 10 minutes top.

Maps maybe to be removed if others agree:

Torn, Survivor, Vertigo

I've spoken my piece about the map rotation.  I feel that the same maps get played all the time: aztec, dust, office, inferno, dust 2, etc.  I would love to get a little variety.  Also, this is a public, community server, I'm not sure CAL maps are what everyone wants.  I know that I personally play here for fun, without having the thought of training for some kind of tourney on my mind.  That's just my two bits.

yea but when maps like torn are played no one likes it so they leave then the server that once was full it is then empty in 10 minutes. This is bad for the server owners cause they are paying for no one playing then there could be a full server still.

My point is that I made an effort to try and get new maps into the rotation full well knowing that there are plenty of maps out there that people don't enjoy playing.  Like I've said, people these days, for the most part, only enjoy playing the maps they're good at, even I'll admit to not enjoying a couple of maps because I'm not as good at them (italy for example) but I'll still stay on the server.

What I'm getting to is that since so many people have had so much time to get very skilled at CS there has become a larger and larger focus on stats as a measure of a person's skill.  In other words, people play CS for the stats and not as a game to have fun.  So when a map comes up that they're not good at they leave, wait for the map to change, and come back when the map is over; most likely because those players that feel they're so good apparently don't want to take the time become better at the maps at which they're not so strong instead of sticking around to see how much fun this map could be with whatever unique combination of players are on the server at that point in time.  The way I see it, every time someone disconnects they'll be missing out on a perfectly valid/applicable learning opportunity.

But hey, that's just my rant.  Some people will take it to heart, some people will shrug it off, and others will no doubt call me arrogant but all I'm doing is putting it out there.  I've always pegged CSR as a place of growth, given enough time, I know that whatever that may not be terribly popular would become popular given time.

the fact is ..in this moment  there are 27, 965 CSservers and  86,874 players CS players (gamespy stats) so that is:

27, 965
------------ =  3.10 players per server
86,874

people will ask themselves "why i should play on CSR server instead one of the others 27,964 servers online?"

so we need to offer something that only few server can offer:
-teamplay
-Cool maps
-friendly atmosphere
-free snacks

People can get a cheeseburger anywhere.  They come to chotzhskis for the attitude and the atmosphere.

I come to csr for the people.  The level of sportsmanship and maturity are way higher then most and or all servers.

And for the majority of us who feel the same as Nittany here, it doesn't matter what map we play: it matters who we're playing the map with.

Finding out which maps truly are the "most preferred" has always been an issue, but there is a web package out there designed to do exactly that called the Map Rating System, or MRS. Unfortunately, the current version is more or less incompatible with CSR's current webserver configuration. The next version will fix these problems, and the Staff has every intention of trying this software as the first and best measure to curb all these "torm sucks!," "I hate vertigo," "take survivor out of the rotation already!" type arguments.

The MRS will allow each of you (registered forum members that is) to vote for which maps you like the best on a weekly basis, suggest your own mapcycle, and basically give us your 2 cents. The software tabulates the "most popular" maps based on a lot of complicated formulas and automatically generates/installs a new mapcycle for the coming week.

I personally am sick to death of hearing people complain about maps in the rotation. For every map you hate, there is someone who considers it they're favorite. How would you like it if as soon as the map changed to your favorite map I sarted complaining about how unbalanced it is and how it empties the server, and basically pestering people to switch to something else the whole time you were trying to savor the moment?

My point is, it's not that hard to sit through a map you don't care for if you know somebody else is really enjoying themself. It's only fair to do that since there are people who sit through the maps they hate and you love in order for you to have someone to shoot at.
