i have a few problems with my new map that i cant figure out..so i'm hoping someone has a solution..i apolagize now for the large picture



ISSUE #1:

why is it the water texture glows and is not dark?

ISSUE #2:

why is the waterfall texture doing the same thing?

anyway to fix this problem?

If you don't make water transparent I think it will always look like that - obviously more noticeable in the dark. What values you have set for the various render options?

i'm going to retry rendering the map with the water on low transparency..

the water is a very important part of the map there..it's suppose to show a hidden passage 

this map is coming along so good. i've kepted wpoly so low that i can add more more details then i was planning on

i'll add more pictures of the map once its done making it.

STORY BEHIND MAP:

es_asylum

Saint Rusky's Medical Treatment Center has been treating patients for many years now and has gained the reputation as the best medical center in the world. Unknown to the public though, the Treatment Center harbors an insane asylum in its basement, where the doctors have been studying and torturing the prisoners. This has finally became public when the prisoners were able to attack the doctors, and brake free from their cell. As the terrorists, you must manage to escape the Treatment Center, and escape to the highway. As the Counter-Terrorists, you must cover up this event by preventing the Terrorists escaping.

The first pic is very nice, save for a slightly oversized light fixture. 2 is far too dark even if that is what you intended. Not quite sure what's going on in 3 and 4 looks quite nice too from what I can see. Keep it up. I'll try and post some pics of my latest endeavour when I get it to a presentable stage.

do people really have their light settings that low? i see them perfectly fine (of course by perfectly fine i mean the right ammount of darkness)

picture 2 has a flickery light..it must have gotten it while it was dark..non the less, i'll beef it up a little and see what happens

it adds greatly to the map though

i'm going for a spooky silent hill type look for the basement. all i need to do it figure out how to add blood decals

Decals are easy in WC but I don't know how Quark works.

you simply make your own - here's what to use: wally, a digital camera, a dagger, and someone to slay
ofcause you can also add pyramid head, but I don't quite know how to make him come alive in cs (if that's the plan)
