Which Stats Package do you Prefer?

I'd like to find out which is the more popular stats package here at CSR, and make THAT the one that the "Stats" hyperlink in the top navigation bar of the site points to. A lot of people are totally ignorant of the fact that there is a website here other than the forums, and I think switching that top link to HLstats might help.

IN SHORT: Either HLstats or PsychoStats will be used in the "Stats" link at the top of the website, so whichever one of those two has more votes will go there.

If you vote for something else, it won't affect the consequences of the poll.

I'm a big supporter of HLStats.  Phyco is too k:d oriented.

I like HLStats cause it can track more players and is easier to find middle ranked players.  Now, I know I'm not the best player in the game, heck, I'm just barely competitive sometime, but I'm still not even close to being on the top 150 to make psychostats.  I'm not an avid stats player, but I like to see how I'm doing every now and then.  HLStats is the only stats tracker that I can easily find myself, and see how i'm doing.  If my K:D is really low on one map, I'll usually start looking into bettering myself on that map first, because it's usually a strategy thing for me.

Okay, just like the Map Rotation poll: everyone has until Sunday night before this poll closes. After that I'll change the link at the top of the site for "Stats" to whichever package has the most votes.

Well, HLStats has it. The change will be made shortly to accompany the new PsychoStats layout. Thanks for your input everybody!

It's in-game only? What's the difference between that and StatsMe then? Do you know of a server that runs it I can scope out?

um really u got hl stats after 11 people voted for it, and there have been like 3500 people who played at csr thats .31 % of players that voted, thats not even close to democracy like i mean it's it suppose to be half i mean hl stats are cool, but how much memory does this stuff take up

If 3500 people don't vote then it's there own fault for not getting there say in. The people who voted are the people who care and they count for the majority. So guess what, it's as democratic as it's gonna get. I'm also guessing that you don't really care what stats package is used and it's more likely that you're trying to get people, like myself, to respond to you. So I'm going to quit wasting my breath.

these are the two major differences i noticed between the old and the new stat programs:

1) the site runs much slower now.

2) the program is keeping track of kills that happen so long ago...which is sorta pointless. and making the ranking have 3600 people is also pointless. put the limit back on 150..and if you want to see your stats, do better so you get on the list.

3)-tFu- went from owning everyone at #1 to like #5? (conspiracy i tell you..)

4) unreliable (go figure that when i go 200-50 in iceworld2k..the stat page is down and doesnt record it...but the game stats did..so now the site has me having more deaths then kills, while the game has more kills then deaths)

again..is it really necessary to keep track of the 63 different alias i have used..dating back since may? this is just wasted space in my opinion.

i also liked the old system of only recording the name, not all names on a WON ID. why should i be ranked with 3000 kills when i only did 1000 under tFu deuce?

just my opinions...

Deuce

PS - i voted..i think..

ya wanabee sorry, but i did vote, and i do care what stats are used that is why i have posted about stats in differnt places and even started it's own topic, i didn't like the old stats, but the old stats were better than this, i mean just think how much data hlstats has to load, 3500 wonid's and pages of names for different people, and 200+/- pages of event history perperson, i don't like that, i would prefer the older stats pager of this.  And i look at forums almost every day, and guess what sometiems i miss stuff, sorry i am not PERFECT, but i do care

That is not connected to HLStats. The lag issues are site-wide-- and we are trying desperately to fix them.

HLStats is cumulative. Because it doesn't have to parse log files it can keep track of every player that ever connects to CSR, not just the best 150, and can also keep track of every kill and event, not just from the last two weeks. Seems to me this is an advantage.

You are still first in PsychoStats, btw.

This is another known issue we are working to repair.

It is incredibly helpful for our admins, if nothing else. And the space is not an issue. We have as much of it as we care to use.

HLStats doesn't have to "load" all of that. It parses logs real-time as things happen in the game server, and put it's statistics into a database as they are generated. Then when you go and look at the stats page, the actual web page uses PHP to pull only the data you ask for from the database. It is arguable a more efficient system than PsychoStats. The other benefit is that you don't have to wait till tomorrow to see how you did in-game 30 minutes ago. As soon as you make a kill in the game, it shows up on the web pages immediately.

You aren't missing anything-- PsychoStats is still on the site and gets updated every day at 5:30 AM, as I myself have stated MANY times. The link is in the main menu on the right side of every page except for in the forums. I'm not about to post a link here because I think people need to learn how to do this themselves.

Don't take it the wrong way kidshaft: you're just the latest person to seemingly have ZERO knowledge of the existence of a website beyond the forums, so you caught the brunt of my frustration with all those people's accumulated ignorance. Makes me want to shut the forum down for a day or two to force people to look around the rest of the site.

Personally, I still think that HLstats should be restarted just b/c the amount of kills and deaths is so high now.  other servers that i have played on reset their hlstats like every month or so.  People have like 5000 kills some have like 8000...to me thats just too much.  granted it wont save forum space, but it will knock out a lot of people who dont play here anymore.  Give everyone a fresh start.  just my suggestion!! THX!!

It's not a bad point ayo, but the people who don't play her anymore are already "knocked out" to the last pages of the stats, where nobody really looks. And I guess I don't understand the reasoning behind having "too many" kills. Some people like having a running total of how many kills they've gotten, not just how many they've gotten in the past two weeks.
