That seems like a pretty good price. Thinkpads are top notch quality. I would reccomend checking it out first to make sure it is in good condition and everything is working right.

one thing to note is that it likely doesnt have wireless internet built in. The good news is that you can get a wifi card that plugs into the side for not too much. the bad news is that the plug-in-the-side ones are somewhat notorious for bad reception and suck alot of battery power. Overall, I still think its a great deal.

I'll second that motion. My linksys wifi pc card sucks like nobody's business. It gets horrible reception and drops my connection quite frequently, though it will occasionally go on a tear and run for three days straight.

Ah the benefit of built-in wireless. The antenna in iBooks and PowerBooks is looped around the screen, which makes for killer reception. I've never noticed much of a power hit from using the wifi either. I know when I'm downloading stuff it'll cut the battery life to 3 hours (a lot of the is CPU and HD grinding though), but just keeping the card active I can still watch two DVDs straight through on mine with a single charge, and my iBook is 4 years old!

that's why i got back to my original statement...apples make great lappies...but a PC powerhouse desktop is still the way to go... Elite spent 4k on his alienware laptop, and it's lucky if it can handle any real game.
