Round time

With the latest steam updating fixing money and the bomb timer.  I think that csr should lower round time to 3 min or so.  Just because u can plant with 3 seconds left and then round time ends and bomb time takes over, just a thought

I personally wish it would be upped back to 5 minutes (which I'd like to point out is the stock value), but I think 4 is a good enough compromise to not go and complain.

Sitting around waiting is the price you pay for dying so quickly. Plus, five minutes is enough time to really go to the bathroom and still have time to wipe once. And that's definitely a good thing.

first thats nasty.  not to compare but i will when cal has 2:30 round time  usually it's more than enough time to do what u need to do, second 5 min is just a really long time for your nub ct to camp the bomb when the t is afk.  But 5 min is way to long, this thread is about lowering not upping the round time.

I was just exercising the same privilege to voice my opinion in a polite way that you were. So far, we're at one person for shorter, and one for longer.

I might also add the totally cliche reminder that CSR isn't a CAL server, but by now everybody already knows that (or at least should know that). As such, arguments concerning CAL servers and their settings never have, and usually don't, carry much weight here.

To be completely honest, your arguments would be much more convincing if you gave some reasons why the people who play here (as opposed to people who play on CAL servers) would enjoy shorter rounds more that 4 minute rounds, but that's just my suggestion.

I like the round time just the way it is.  The rounds that are the most fun to play are the long ones. lots of quick carnage does not equal a good game and quickly gets repetitive and boring. Imho anyway

I don't really play in cal servers all that much.  But if everyone who's in cal plays with 2 30 min, and feels that thats enough time to plant the bomb or complete an objective then it should be even more than enough time for any pub to complete the objective because people pretty much just run around headless ever round.  I just feel like i end up watching my screen for 3 min while 2 afk's battle it out. (HINT HINT HINT)
if u get the hint let me know

I get your hint loud and very clear but I think it is you that is missing the point. This is a pub server as you acknowlaged, and most of the regular on this server are just casual players. That means that we enjoy playing in a more laid back environment.

I cannot speak for everyone here but I enjoy playing defensive and playing longer rounds as opposed to blitzing the other team. Why? because I will admit that I am not the most skilled player and I try to have as much fun for myself within my abilities. If you cannot stand the wait between rounds watching lower ranked players duke it out, I would suggest moving on to another game like UT with instant respawn. Spectating for most of the round also has the advantage of being able to watch the patterns of the other team which I find helps me improve my play and I am sure it helps you improve yours.

As for afk players (the type that doesn't move in this case) that is what admins are for.

i don't see why the changes made effect round time.  it basically only makes the bomb finish the round once it is planted.  I think cal has to set a lower round time or they'll get very skilled players trying to camp a strategic area.  It is an attempt to keep things fast paced and interesting, though I'm not sure that so many medium skilled players can improvise so quickly (and more importantly, improvise efficiently).  On that note, I haven't seen very many rounds going long or newbs both camping...I'm not sure I've seen enough to make me personally want change the map time.

Alright, how bout this....

Make a script that detects the amount of people on the server.  When there is less then 10, round times are 3.5 mins (or 3).  When 10+.. its 4.

I hate it when there is 8 people on the server and two just search the map for each other.  I hate it more when I'm one of those two people.

See, I like having lots of time. Lots of you have probably seen me in action on backalley after all the rest of my CT team has been killed. See, call me slow, but if you give me silence and 4 minutes, I'll do a whole heck of a lot better then if you give me 2 minutes and force me to charge 3 terrorists camping the hostages. Of course, if my team was a little more liberal in their use of the shift key, they might have done a little better too, but then we're getting off topic.

I argee with points made by Porter and Biggums, so thats why I say leave it be. Though I'm the gung-ho type that goes charging in, there are also instances, say 4v1 when extra time, like porter said, would be helpful. Though I too am not a fan of 2 people wandering the map in search of each other.

I play alot late at night and oftentimes there are only a few people on and many times no admins. Thats when round time can be frustrating if you are either searching for each other or someone is afk with the bomb and there's no admin there to take care of it. I don't know that shorter round time really would solve or help these issues but thats my 2 cents.

I should point out that if people are trying to complete there objectives, it shouldn't be hard for people to "find" each other.

When exactly was the last time you set up your own CS server?

First things first: we're talking about round time, not freeze time. In your last two posts, you went from 3 minutes to 3 seconds, which is an awfully short amount of time to get the bomb planted or the hostages rescued.

Second: stock round time is five minutes. That's what HLDS sets it to if you don't give it a value explicitly. I run three servers I can use to show you, if you don't want to take my word for it.

No more posting while drunk, got it?
