map changes and restarts

okay, i was on the server last night with a bunch of other people, and i was on for good while too, but i had some concerns about more than a few things a saw, and i thought i should bring them to the community in general.  some of these things will be eliminated more after we establish our regular admins i think, but at any rate, here we go:

First of all, after every map change (or nearly every map change) some kept starting a vote to "restart the map".  For those of us with faster connections, that meant us working hard in a pistol round and winning and then having to work twice as hard, and loosing (plus back to back pistol rounds which seems taxing to me, as you try and do well in the first round).  I'm wondering if there is a reason that someone kept wanting to start the map over, or if they just wanted/liked pistol rounds or what the whole necessity of this vote even was?  I didn't understand it, and i found it very unnerving to take an early lead in one start, only to come no where close the second (usually because we seemed taken off guard that the vote went thru).

Secondly, in a related issue, there were several instances where not but 5 minutes into a map, and another change map vote came up.  (after two pistol rounds it was as if someone had all of a sudden thought they had a better idea of what map to play and sent it to a vote)  this to me made the idea of loading one map right after another map sometimes and got dull and frustrating for me personally very quick, not to mention if i was on a slightly slower connection i would have felt VERY robbed.

Now that I'm thinking of it, I also saw some puzzling kick votes too.  I guess when it boils down to it, we all have all this power on the server, and I'm not sure everyone is starting these votes at appropiate times and what not.  Like I said, I'm hoping after we get a regular group of admins "police-ing" the server, these issues will subside, but I'm just curious if anyone has any suggestions or ideas to help minimize these problems until then.

Humbly yours,
Tenshi

Agreed.

People I have noticed doing unneccessary votes:

Epilougue, started playing here yesterday, it was rediculous.
Smokey, Ive already talked to him.

There were others, but I am unsure as to who tehy were

from a technical point of view, can we see who starts each vote?

This has been researched already.  We can find the abusers quickly, and effectivly.

We are just awaiting the first admin list so we can put the power into their hands. This should be done any day now.  Steps have also been taken to lessen the effects of abusers, such as raising the time between votes.

Admin list is off to MM.

If you want map changes or anything else an admin can "do"...ask.  But don't expect him to be your servant, they want to play too.

ribs, i understand that admins will have the power.  but every player still has the power to use the admin_vote_map command, is that correct?

and mysterymachine, if i'm understanding you correctly, then you have added a timer between map votes?

just making sure i understand.

Tenshi,

As of now no one but the temp admins I added to the server has the ability to change the map, vote_kick people, or restart rounds.  It was getting out of control so I revoked the ability.  For the rest of today there should be someone around with the power to do change maps if people just ask.  After that I think MM is going to have the official admin list done tonight.

This would be why we asked for email addresses and the rest of the info from each of the nominated admins. If Ribs does not have this information, get it to him.

We're going to waste tons of time just trying to contact each other this way. We reliable, fast communications. Poor communication one of the things that helped kill CSR last time. Get your real name, working email address, WONID and forum ID to Ribs, pronto. A board will be created in the next few days for the Admin Team to discuss server business (i.e. cheaters), but you won't be included unless Ribs has all this info.

Ribs, Ryo or I will need this information to create the board. As soon as you feel you have all the info you are going to get from your admins, please get the complete list to him or I. And naturally, MM will need the complete list as well so he can verify and/or create admin listings and contact each admin with their connection info.

A note to nominated admins and all CSR regulars alike: You can get your WONID quickly by searching for yourself in CSR's HLStats.

My E-Mail should work fine, I got a returned E-Mail from hotmail, which means it made it all the way out there, but hotmail itself couldn't find the address.  I decided it would be best just to use PM's in this case anyhow.

well for mine many people forget the "s" after "quig"  instead of putting jimquigs7@hotmail.com  (the correct one)  they'll put jimquig7@hotmail.com  (the wrong one).  dont know if this was the problem but no matter, i still got the message anyway.  Question tho, do we have the T-say command so that we can type messages in white at the bottom left of screen??

Check the general forums, for admin nomination (or something like that).
