Kazaa's Peer Points Manager

Does anyone know what this is about??  If you do what settings do u think i should put??  Should i only allow file sharing when Kazaa is up, or allow file sharing all the time??  Can this potentially "lag me up" when playing CS?  What about the bnadwidth cap the Points Manage can use??  Should i allow unlimited?  If not, how much per month do u think is reasonable?  Honestly i do not have any clue about bandwidth and such so i dont know what to do.  Thanks guys for any help!!

Yes, it can totally lag you up, my suggestion is that you either get "Kazaa Lite, or Kazaa Diet", and run that if your going to run CS at the same time or, just shut it down completely when u decide to play

I tend to agree with the idea of shutting it down if you intend to play CS.  One, it uses bandwidth, two it uses memory and three it uses cpu time all of which are essential for CS to perform well.  Just my two cents.

i know i always close down Kazaa before i play cs, i am just saying what about this Peer Points thing.  Should i only allow it to run when Kazaa is running?  Or all the time?  B/c Peer Points can run when kazaa ISNT running.  Does Peer Points require a lot of banwidth to run and would lag up my game of cs??

Don't run it!  Don't let it do stuff when you don't want it too!  If you are not downloading, but they are uploading from you, they are leaches.  Detach the leaches and go peer points free!!!

The other thing you might want to consider is that there is a lot of talk of going after the biggest and badest file pirates out there, and they're using Kazaa to find the people with the most illegal files shared. if you're going to use Kazaa or any of the other P2P apps out there, be mighty careful about how many files you give others access to. It might be wise to just stop using it altogether for a while. I have to say this though: I'm gonna laugh if anyone from CSR gets arrested.

I downloaded 150 pieces of software over the past week using kazaa lite (uber good version of kazaa).

Out of 150 I found 67 files with worms/trojans/viruses that pc-cillin 2002 caught. Most were old outdated worms. But yes kazaa files do contatin malicious virus. If you havent ran a scan with your latest virus definitions for your anti virus lately I suggest you do so now....

http://www.antivirus.com (trend micro home page, select the free online scan)

On a similar note, I disabled uploading. But I set kazaa lite so that it looks like I am a super user (1000 points). I highly reccomend kazaa lite, as it is small in size, doesnt lag your machine up, and makes it look like your a kazaa pimp, when in fact your a kazaa leech.

Dont ask what software I dl'd, most of it is for "personal trialing purposes", believe that one and I will tell you another....

I got winxp pro, win2k advanced server, win2k3 advanced server, linux rh 8.2+9.0 update, mechwarrior 3 + 4, mech commander 2, and some games from my youth ad&d pools of darkness, ultima 6+7+8, g6 ftp server (aka bulletproof ftp server), mysql server, a mcse course book (in pdf format), and a lot more. Thats the software that worked, the stuff thats wormed/virused I deleted after I pmed the user and asked if they knew the file had viruses in it. A lot of people were glad stealthmode used kazaa this week. lol...

Of course I only dld these progs so I can "evaluate them", this disclaimer is for legal purposes....

Off topic> good to see that sig under your name ayo, if you or anyone else needs one that wont take up too much of my time (like yours didnt), don't hesitate to ask.

BTW, it's not the penalty I would give, but an employee of the SB Electronics Boutique has been suspended from his ISP for at least a month (by the ISP) for file-sharing.  I don't know if he's gotten in any other trouble than that, but I don't know what I'd do without internet for a month.
