Rate Kaoz

Strictly pro-forma. Kaoz has been a admin here for a while now, long enough for regular players to formulate some feedback. Anyone has anything to say good or bad, post feedback here, or PM me privately if you'd rather not be public about it. Otherwise Kaos becomes a regular admin.

Kaoz has been great. I'm sure lots of people haven't even noticed that he had admin powers cause he does his job and keeps it on the dl. Also great to have an admin that is competitive and is up to date with hax and exploits and how to spot them.

it is definately true that kaoz has a knack for spotting hacks, and is a good person to compliment the admin team. I think his ability to look at players with an objective eye is important. So far, I've seen nothing that constitutes bad admining.

Kaoz is tops in my books. he makes playing the game a pleasure as long as he is on my team and not killing me constantly.
As for neo's claim of being the farthest away, if you draw a circle on this map centered on Vermont and the edge going through the 'e' in Alberta (Edmonton, Alberta), the entire country of Mexico is enclosed in that circle which makes Miscreant, Theekiller, Fooljeff, and I (also whoever else that lives here that i dont have connections to in person) the farthest away. Although it could be largely due to the perspective of the map.
(oh god, I am bored today)

Underhill? We have a halfling on the admin team? If we had to have a halfling on the admin team, I would have picked Gollum. At least you know he'll strangle the stuffing out of the dopes.
I haven't heard anything bad yet. C'mon guys, tell me he likes donkey porn or something. No, not Biggums...Kaos. Sheesh.

I actually like that not everyone knows the full admin team. Nothing is more annoying than starting to watch someone who is playing fishy, and then someone yells "Hey Father, this guy is hacking, ban him", and then the guy stops hacking...but you have to sit and watch him anyway.

I know certain people when they spot hax like to spam it until the person is banned. I tell the kid to stop it because it does no good to his face. However, when it is on the 6th round of getting walled in the head while the hackers crosshairs do the tell tale circle twitches and they haven't been banned what would one expect? Especially when someone says to an admin hey the crosshairs are twitching around and the admin responds to that person "you do the same thing so how do I know if it is hacks?" I mean four blatent hackers went though atleast 10 rounds and I believe only one actually got banned. What is that?
In essence, sometimes things need to be pointed out even though I don't. I just leave out of respect for the policy. I assure you this type of thing wouldn't happen with kaoz in game.

Back when Scoobs and MM were part of CSR v1, they had pages and links to stuff that would help us feeble admins have an idea of what hacks looked like.
Anyone who ever finds good articles, especially with graphics and video of what current hacks look like, would certainly be appreciated if they posted links for current admins to bone up on what we should be looking for. Sometimes when we're looking at someone it's half intuition, and anything that helps do our job is a big plus.

This is exactly what we have an Article sections for. If ANY of you find something that's CS related and worth talking about, let me know and I'll give you access to post your essay/story/etc.
I want to emphasize Ribs' point though-- the Admin Team can never have enough tools, and if you can help us perform better by providing information to make us more "hack-aware" then PLEASE tell use where to find it.

I'll start to write some basic stuff on what cheats look like and the red flags to spot them.
It would be probably be more useful if someone could download hacks and record demos of what the twitching looks like, the jerkyness of an aim bot, and so on.
I don't have much experience in using hacks myself. Other then using a friends extra computer and hacking on lan and in our own server. Funny thing is my friend gave me a copy of cs retail because another friend lost my copy of half-life that I gave him. He was setting up some stuff for cs and installed some version of ogc on my computer. He told me it was required to play. He put on the mod version and not the retail version as this was 1.3. None of the cheats worked and I removed them by reinstalling cs because I would get banned from servers when csgaurd came out. So if someone with more experience would like to collaborate with me that would help.
Useful commands to use like seeing what other names the players play under. This would be useful if you were afraid of banning a reg or if the person if aliasing over and over to avoid recognition of repeated cheating. Built in tests likes recoil tests. Rarely people no recoil though they just aim bot if they are use any aim help. Recording demos and recording them effectively. That is all I can think of for commands though, so if anyone can think of more tell me.

|
Just remember to use a CS 1.5 installation for this! Steam will detect your cheats even if you're on a LAN server, and your SteamID will get banned anyway. I would do it myself, since I think I should take some kind of responsibility in this and because out of all the people on CSR I should be the one to risk my CD key, but I barely have time to keep the place running. I'm gonna have to delegate this one to some other brave soul.
Useful commands to use like seeing what other names the players play under. |
|
One step ahead of you. I am already working on a plugin to allow admins to track players by their steamIDs, and be notified whenever a player they are "watching" joins the server, no matter what their name is.
Built in tests likes recoil tests. Rarely people no recoil though they just aim bot if they are use any aim help. Recording demos and recording them effectively. |
|
We already have a no recoil adminmod plugin running on the server, but it isn't used much (that I ever see). It seems to me that it tends to be more annoying and less useful that you would think.
