drinking and driving? why?

hey gang,the last 2 weeks have been prom week for all the high schools in my area so every year we brace for a DUI weekend, last night i worked and was called to motor vehical accident and since i was pulled away from a ride program i had a feeling it was bad, when i arrived on scene you coulndt see the car but i could see car parts,a rim with no tire and a young woman on the road,upon investigation i found a van about 30 feet from the road with 5 youths in it only 1 of them could speek to me the rest didnt respond, it turned out the young woman was deceased and the other 5 were rushed to hospital and in critical condition,all 6 were drunk from a party they had just left, im not preaching to you guys that drinking and driving is awful,you should know but telling a parent her daughter died to an drunk driving accident is worse.
.80 is drunk,that works out to 2 drinks,it sucs but its true so be smart and call a cab.

We had a kid in my high school die in an accident. He got drunk at a party and wrapped his car around a tree on his way home. They estimated that he was doing about 70 mph (115 kph for you euro people). After the accident the school took what was left of his car and put it on the school lawn. That turned out to be a pretty powerful reminder.

Thats always sad hear  I know with our grad comming up, an incident liek this is bound to occur. Sadly where im from most of the kids and there familys are failry well off. And hearing some of the stories in school is actually scarey.
though toby i respect you man for being able to do a job like that

All our speed signs/distances are quoted in mph/miles in the UK. It's only on the continent where they whip out the k.

thx thee killer,it is a horrible part of the job but the call to parents i try to avoid but when im first on scene its my investigation and i have to make the calls
