Re-installed my OS and everything on some new drives and was wondering if anyone knows what file to copy over that has the CS server favorites?

Also a follow-up question.  When I turn Vsync on the game looks much better, but then I get capped at 60fps for some reason.  When I turn it off it lets me run over 100fps.  anyone now a fix or why this happens?

vsync forces your graphics card to issue screen updates at exactly the same time your monitor is refreshing the screen (which by default runs at 60Hz). This of course makes it look nicer, but caps your framerate to whatever refresh rate your monitor is running at.

Dunno about the favorites list-- I use HLSW.

Thanks porter, i'll have to make sure that my monitor doesnt drop to 60Hz in CS.  I run my desktop at 100Hz when in the same resolution so I'll have to figure out why it is dropping my refresh in games.
I've become so used to playing games at such high frame rates that 60fps feels sooooo slooooooow to me now. I actually feel greatly disadvantaged at 60fps when im used to much higher.

I wouldnt call it bad, but i will say its hard to go back to once you've hit 100+
fps_max 150
use that command and it will up your cap.  you may also need to use
developer 1
to get over 100fps.  I dont fully remember what the command is.  Im actually going to need to find it again since Im capped at 100 again regardless of FPS max.  Anyone know off the top of their head how to break the 100fps max?
The game actually feels faster at a higher frame rate...when im at 60 I feel like someone put the game into a slow motion mode.

Basically if your at 60fps and im at 100fps im getting a more accurate representation of the screen.  My view is being updated more often then yours and therfor I have a slight advantage.

btw, when I redid my OS and eveything and put in updated drivers it fixed all my CS mic problems.  No idea why, but now its very clear instead of pure static. Seems to me it should of always just worked well

If you have your fps higher than your monitor's refresh rate is it likely that it will permantely screw up your monitor?

No, you just get what's called "clipping". Try spinning your mouse left to right real quickly in-game and watch the vertical lines that make up the edges of walls. You'll see they don't entirely keep up from top to bottom and things look like they got "clipped" with a pair of scissor through the center of the screen.

This doesn't cause any damage-- the graphics card is still outputting data at 60Hz, and your monitor is still displaying it at 60Hz. The only thing going on is that the graphics card is "changing its mind" in the middle of a single Hz and telling the monitor to draw something different on the bottom half of the screen than the top half it started with. Purely a matter of visual taste.
