If I back up F:\Steam\SteamApps\e-mail \counter-strike all my maps, skins, and settings should be saved with it right?

well, maps and skins i'm 100% sure would be saved, i'm not sure how 1.6 saves settings, i know 1.5 used config.cfg...so I assume it would work.

Yeah, that actually sounds like a better way to do a CS backup then it was for 1.5, because all the default files aren't kept in that cstrike folder any more, so all you're saving is your customizations. All you'd have to do is re-install Steam, update it, and drop that folder back in to SteamApps and you'd be right back up to par-- minus a couple of settings I think Steam keeps in your Registry. Good thinking there.
