i wonder if anyone knows a program to monitor the true internet speed and/or Lan activity ?

you can try dumeter (the newest version is 3.0, but that's only free for 30 days...maybe some previous versions are for free).
Anyway this program monitors you download and/or upload activity and displays the speed of these..
In 3.0 you can activate stopwatch and see totals for a period of time...
