solution to the fy map problem?

i think this could be a fair solution to the problem.

have the vote system in place, but instead of having count majority vote (where out of a 15 person game, 3 people could vote for iceworld and win), have it be a 50% majority. that way, at least half the people in the game want to play it. if there is no 50% majority, let the map change to the next in the cycle

DEUCE'S SIMPLE EXAMPLE

example map cycle: assault, dust, dust2, vertigo

12 people are playing in assault. at the end of the round, the vote comes up with the options to pick continue, iceworld, militia, mice.

5 people pick iceworld, 4 pick continue, 2 pick mice, 1 pick militia. since there was no 50% majority, the map goes onto the next in line, which would be dust.

at the end of dust, a vote comes up for continue, poolday, train, vertigo.

6 people pick poolday, 3 pick continue, 2 pick train, 1 picks vertigo. since there is a 50% majority, map changes to poolday

i think this is simple enough, its democratic enough, and it means at least 50% of the people would want the map change.

feedback my peeps?

i like the idea, however, getting a 50% majority is rearely ever going to happen...especially when usualy 5 maps are nominated to be chosen at the end.  Getting 50% is highly unlikely...i like the theory tho.  Maybe we can cut it down to 40% or something based on the number of people in the server.  Like if there are 15 people in the server, you need 5-6 votes to change.  But with 7 people, you need 4 or something like that.  that is WAY WAY WAY more complicated, but a 50 % majority thing is hardly ever goin to happen.  Great idea tho!

O wait, i just thought of something.  Is there a way that we can limit the amount of nominations to be made??  Can we limit it to like 3 or 4??  this way 50% majority or something close to that (like 40-45%) would be MUCH easier to attain.  If we can set a smaller number of nominations to that can be made, i think Duece's plan will work!!

that was the other idea i was going to put out..the ammount of nominations..

also, i think the ammount of rounds required until it can be played again needs to be atleast 5 for more variety

i think, if it was 3 options, 50% would be much easier to attain:

if there are 15 people in a game with the choices:

1) continue
2) iceworld
3) assault

i think you could probably get 50% out of that..and if not, that means a majority does not want one of those maps, letting the map cycle choose the next map

i dont know..with the limited amount of choices to choose from, i see 50% being more easier to get..what do you think ayo?

one small problem i just saw with this is the nominations..with only 2 nominations,  only two people are going to be able to pick the possible choices. is there a way to limit the amount of times someone can nominate, or maybe a map nominated more times will be up for choosing compared to a map nominated once?

and more importantly..what happened to my sig?!?

i see 50% being very easy to get with the limited amount of nominations.  I would say tho, that it should be like 45% or higher for it to change to the map.  Cause if there is lets say 15 people in the server and 7 of them vote for one map, its not goin to go to the map since its not 50% (its approx. 47%).  The 45% or higher can act as a "buffer zone" to solve this "problem" in which basically a majority want to go to a certain map but due to an odd number of people in the server, they will be "denied".  what u think??

if theres 15 people, 8 people would be required for 50%..7 people wouldnt equal more then half the group, but 8 would.

and i dont know about lowering it to 40%..because again, it wouldnt be majority vote. if it remains 50%, that means if people want to play a map, they better try there best to convince others to play. otherwise..lowering the % required defeats the purpose of needing a majority vote (50%)

but thats just my opinion. in order for a map change, there should be half or more then half the group wanting it.

I think it's fine, but it would be nice if you couldn't go on the same map again unless you got like 70% or something.  Because I don't mind stepping out for a map I don't like, but when iceworld goes up 3 times in a row it gets annoying.

Good ideas so far:

  • Higher percentage to win a vote, maybe or maybe not as high as 50%.
  • Less possible maps. 2 or 3 at most.
  • Allowing fewer nominations (or only 1 nomination per person?)

Another really annoying idea would be to raise the percentage needed for a map to win a vote, and also keep people frozen without their guns until at least half of them agree on one by voting over and over. Let me clarify that: what I'm envisioning is the first vote on a full server ends up getting split to each of 5 map choices, but none of them getting 50% or more. The plugin then goes through another round of voting by elliminating the two map choices that received the fewest votes. Eventually, the people who lost their first picks would push one of the other maps over 50%. Make sense? The really annoying part is that that process could take a while.

One thing I would like to see is that it would be impossible to vote for the same map three times in a row. It happened to us last night, and most people left when they realised it had been voted same again....
