Here is the original message:
This notice is to inform you that Recon Gamer will be updating your game server application to Counter-Strike 1.6. Please understand that this update will be mandatory as Valve will be dismantling the WON Authentication system over the next several weeks, and require users to sign up using Steam. Each user of Half-Life and Counter-Strike retail will be required register a Steam account after the Steam client file is obtained. Once the Steam client file is executed, it will give you the option to create your own unique steam account. There are several places you may go to obtain the Steam client file. You may download this file from Recon Gamer at the following location:

Ok, I'm trying to update my Steam atm, but quite obviously its not working because there are so many people doing it.
Fortunately, Fileplanet has a FULL 379MB download of Steamclient and its CACHE, so it will install with the update.

Well isn't that a hoot! Just bypass the whole bloody mess. Of course, my connection is too unstable to be able to get through that much data without dropping in the middle (or more like 2 percent) so Raven and I are probably still screwed. PLus, it'll take forever to get it from FilePlanet. Every mirror is chock full right now. I have a 142 minute wait. Can we get anyone to host a mirror for CSR? Scrappy maybe?

I must say 1.6 really sucks, they should have waited longer to release it. There are way to many issues with it...
