Hacking Question
« on: February 22, 2004, 10:55:14 PM »
|

So I was playing on another server tonight bcuz no one was on CSR and I'm playing one on one with this guy and he's owning with an AWP so I tell him I'm gonna bail if you don't drop the AWP. He says ok and then we play a couple rounds I kill him he kills me etc.. Then he says brb so I go chargin into his spawn to get a free kill and when I get to him he turns and faces me but doesn't shoot. I say hey are you back? No answer, so I walk around him and his gun follows me around the room. So here's my question would that happen no matter what or does that mean he was using auto aim or some kinda hack?

That's pretty darned interesting. If there was a way to temporarily disable a person's mouse input-- you could tell if they had a program aiming for them if they kept being able to track people...

That is very much to my mind a hack (autoaim).

Hacking is the more dramatic solution, but as we all know when people get accused of hacking, they aren't always guilty.
there are only two answers: 1) hack 2) he was on the phone or something with his hand still on the mouse.
Occam's Razor anyone?

if his hand was on the mouse then why didn't he try to shoot me? And when I first approached him I was walking and came up from behind, he then swung around quickly and stopped perfectly facing with no way of knowing I was behind him.
In this case I think the most obvious answer was that he was hacking.

Well, you were the only one to see it, so you'd have the best judgement. I'm mostly just trying to be different. And, its always best to fully consider all possibilities before passing judgement
My explanation for why he didn't shoot is because he did tell you that he was gone and you did not shoot him first, so he was trying to be honorable. He could have swung around like that if he was talking on the phone and just mindlessly looking around and the moment you walked in it was just timed well.
I have no specific knowledge on how the hacking programs work, but you were able to see him turn around so whatever he could've been using was not looking through the walls and was not turning him perfectly fast.
So how was this resolved in the end? did he start moving later?

hack, the aimbot would track the player regardless of if he is currently there or not. and if you were coming up behind him it and it was just you and him, then his aim would automatically be directed towards you once you can into view of him. The way you describe it I would say was definitley a hack.

I never resolved it with the guy because I left the server b4 he came back. It didn't really occur to me until after I'd shutdown CS and was checking email.

If you see this again and you are wondering, try jumping and ducking. If his gun follows you, then I would say hack. I would say hack as it is though. I've heard of this happening, and its a blessing when theres an admin on.

Most likely a hack, although i've never seen one cs does have a box to check for auto aiming IF the server allows it, so it could be that, or he was hacking, or was just messing with you and followed your body just to play a prank, hard to tell if i'm not there

Sure is allot of talking about a maybe or this or that dont you think guys. Maybe he has a auto shooter button on his keyboard, like a pilot has a auto pilot switch. Please fasten your seatbelts this is a boring ride!

This reminds me of the first time I ever encountered a hacker. He was trialing for the first clan I was ever in and he went afk for his dinner. One of our guys ran up to him and ran around him for a bout 10 mins in circles and was clearly being tracked. When the guy came back he tried to claim it was his dog. He didn't pass the trial.

To be fair, dogs are responsible for 76.3% of suspected hacks.

Only now are goldfish accounting for a larger percentage of hack responsibility, as when CS first came out, there were no good wireless mice on the market.
