HL Stats?

It seems something maybe wrong with HL stats?
My last 3 or 4 days worth of activity are not reflected and the leader board is empty save my dropped bomb.

first of all it's not like I'm Yoda or anything so pwning me is nice but nothing special.
secondly I believe I came out ahead by the end of the map or at the very least even with you.
finally you are definitely much improved, at least now you can throw a grenade without blinding or blowing up your teammates.

you know what because of the HL Stats 4 player minimum it really doesn't matter its like a 4th inning rain out in baseball.
It never happened as far the stats are concerned

LOL! The cool thing is I did not know it had to be at least 4 on 4? There have been times I could have practiced with a 1 on 1 and was getting owned so I left thinking there goes my STATS!

I still think something is not right with the stats.. it says no hosties were rescued yesterday and I know for a fact that they were rescued many times on office. X rescued at least 6 or 8 himself. There was about 10 or so people on the server at that time.
perhaps other factors may have something to do with stats? like if the map is changed via an admin command do the stats for that map get written? or if you leave before maps end? or if the server crashes?

If you are referring to the game of office played late, It was after 10pm MT /12am ET which is the cutoff for the next day's awards, so they wont show up until tomorrow.
I can't remember if you were in the game Fotty, but I know XF rescued some then.
It is kind of annoying to have my award stuff split between two days if I play from 9-11 PM. Any chance of that being adjusted Porter?

There is one other possibility: you have to keep in mind that our server (located in Vermont if I'm not mistaken) is sending transcripts of it's logs to iCabbit (which for those who might not recall) is in Illinois near Chicago. In addition to that, iCabbit is hosted on a residential DSL line, which gets used for more than just hlstats. I've thrown this disclaimer out there before: you can't take the stats as entirely reliable. If there was a way to fix this, I would, but RG won't let me run the daemon to parse the stats on THEIR servers, and so I have to use my own. It doesn't matter which one we use, we're always going to face this problem as long as the daemon ISN'T on RG's server. That's just the way it is.
It is kind of annoying to have my award stuff split between two days if I play from 9-11 PM. Any chance of that being adjusted Porter?

That's hard-coded into hlstats. There are 3 parts to that stats package: there's hlstats.pl. which is the Perl script that receives the logs and enters data into the MySQL database. There's hlstats.php, which is the web front-end that grabs the data from the DB and prints it out all nice and pretty for everyone on the website. And then there hlstats-awards.pl, which is a perl script that gets executed by cron once a day. It doesn't matter what time of day it runs: it will always generate awards for the last full 24-hour chunk of data it has. To recode that has a lot of potential for disaster unfortunately. Wouldn't hurt to submit a feature request on the hlstats SourceForge page though.

I don't think its working right either. I shows when I last connected and such alright, but fails to show the results of my in game performance. I had changed my name on Dust and then played a 5v5 game on Nuke and it shows I didn't record a kill or death when I clearly went 26-16 or so.

If yu^rei's bandwidth is maxed out, such as because someone is downloading or uploading a big file, then pretty much everything else gets squeezed out. When I checked yesterday, I saw log entries actually coming through to icabbit. That means the server is sending them right, and icabbit is getting them right. I don't know where else the problem could be. Best I can do is suggest waiting a day or two, keep playing normally, and see if the stats pick you back up.

BTW there is def something wrong because it says the knife award was to some guy with 1 knife kill when I know deuce and I both had more than 1 yesterday between 8-10 with almost a full server

Apparently HLstats is more resource intensive. (They don't seem to mention that they have to dedicate a couple machines to parse a couple thousand logs per server every day for a couple hours.)

yeah i mean stats arent that importaint... i hit my 200 knife kills and i was happy
but on the other side of things, if there are stats they should at least be accurate

Yes. There are only two controlling factors: the connection to iCabbit must be sound(and iCabbit has to be online of course, but it and the DSL modem are battery backed), and there must be 4 people in-game. If those are both met, HLstats will track it.

ok so at least my bomb work was symmetrical last night, no idea if its accurate. the drops seem about right becaused I sucked more than usual last night. I dont recall that many plants though, and I dont remember 3 nade kills.

I restarted the Perl daemon (it had been running since January, but that shouldn't affect anything), and I also restarted the game server. Logs are being sent as expected, oh, and the database has been checked for consistency too. everything is working exactly as it has for the past six months.
