Steam?

Who else had problems with steam today. Where it said steam ticket expired? I had to create a new account and i had to enter the cd key for counter strike or pay 40 bucks and add a bunch of games to my steam cache. Plus I have no friends in my friends list

Uh... your "ticket expiring" doesn't mean you can't play CS again EVER, it just means your machine lost it's "pass" to connect to online servers. It happens to everyone all the time. All you had to do was log out of steam and then back in. They released an update to CS yesterday that bogged the steam servers down, which was why you (and me and PK and lots of other people) were having problems. Check www.steampowered.com next time, so you don't have to keep making new accounts. All you need is a bit more patience.

I exited and logged out and tried to enter again and it said there was a problem with my internet connection. Then I restarted and still didnt work. Also did you always have to pay for counter strike i thought it was free now.

It is still free. It's Condition Zero that they are charging for. Like I said though, the reason NOTHING was working for you last night was because of the update and all the people trying to get it. Next time, just wait until morning and try again.

This update also brings with it a totally trivial new feature:
cl_radartype x
x=0 : Transparent
x=1 : Solid
This might help make it more visible on maps like tundra.
I'm so glad Valve is working on the important stuff first!!!

the new radar is pimp! It works well on a lot of maps where it was hard to see the top points on the radar.
They also implimented a few things from CZ like the new weapon buy screens and the new HS icon when you HS someone

There is a new radar now?? sheesh things i miss out on when i've been MIA from the game for awhile . I should be hopefully playing again shortly maybe next week then i will get back to knifing fotty once again!

well it just got added yesterday... and the old radar still exists and is the default, but the new one is solid so that you can actually see the points on it

how could the new buy screens possibly piss you off???
I didn't even notice them until someone mentioned them because all the numbers for guns, etc. are memorized and I buy based off how much cash I have. The crosshair is bigger now right? It seems to look bigger but I didnt notice much difference in game play

I know the numbers too and I seem to buy faster than most people  . But I also know my keyboard pretty well too so I don't stare at that when I'm buying. So my eyes default to the monitor and I see it. As for the Giant Skull Thing that appears when you HS someone, that just freaks me out.

I think I have to be almost as fast as a buy script can be.... I always finish buying everything needed and that could include a gun, ammo, handgun, secondary ammo, 2FB, 1 HE, 1 Smoke, and a defuse kit (CT only of course) before the buy time is up. I can pretty much calculate my best weapon/equipment combination to buy the second we spawn and buy accordingly.. sadly to say I am sure that is a side effect of way too much CS

I used buy scripts, but i usually just use b then etc. Espically in matches when you might have 2 people doing this and 3 people doing this so buy scripts don't work the best in that sense, plus usually there is enough buy time to just bang out your buy before the stop time.

You must be blind... Even with the numbers memorized you still notice it. So your telling us that you look at your keyboard while buying stuff or your looking to the side or behinde you. Also when you enter the game it is different (that background type thing).
And the crosshairs do make a difference...

blah i just got playing w/ the new update.. blah.. lookes like steam went with a "lets take up the whole screen" theme.. the buy screens freakin humungous uuuuuuuug and the crosshairs.. theyre waaaaaay bigger than possible.. specially with the ak.. its impossible to aim.. the crosshairs take up their whole uppperbody so its impossibly to aim for the head.. bleeeaeaeh what is it with steam and its constant need to fix things that aren't broken!#?

My computer is lightning fast, when I get into the game I hit enter and then 5 and then enter which quickly autoassigns me. And like I said when buying weapons I never see the screen come up once and I am not looking at the keyboard I am looking at the screen. They just flash so fast you really cant see them

on a side note the buy menus are a pretty trivial thing to be complaining about i mean come on.. thats like complaining that they ruined the game if they took the chickens out of italy (although I know someone will comment that this would be so ) They are buy menus for crying out loud, they have no impact on the game. I am sure valve just integrated them with CS since all the code was sitting there already from CZ ready to go.
