Votemap

The votemap is so bad its not even funny. We literally played as_oilrig for 4 hours because the choices on the votemap were so horrible I hadn't even heard of most of the maps on the votemap. The only reason the map even changed was because and admin finally came on and switched it. The list of votemaps really needs editing.

yeah deuce and I are gonna work on getting the map list solid so that you get a healthy choice of maps to vote on. I think porter has also updated the plugin to only allow for an extend 1 time before you have to select a new map.
These next few weeks will be a testing ground to get it working 100% so please bare with it at the moment

I vote for unknown or custom maps but when you've got a server full of non-regulars (irregulars?) they aren't going to vote for Deuceball.

Because they're not fans of deuceballs?
As much as it tends toward centralization, a votemap should not be 4 non-standard maps...there should always be a map that people won't have to DL. And it shouldn't automatically continue map if no map gets majority votes...it should go to map which gets the most votes, if you understand the distinction.
BTW, we played a round of playground yesterday, it filled the server and we had a great time. Shame noone stayed for Rotterdam, I was looking forward to playing it.

You're probably never played CS_MAC then. I hear it looks just like a standard CS map, but for some reason people who play on it think it's the best map ever made.

Yes, and the reason is your unwillingness to try something new, an adventure if you will. People put a great deal of hard work into making custom maps (most of them anyway) and to not be willing to try them because "I've never heard of them" is very ignorant. Its like going into an Italian or French restruant and ordering chicken parm because you don't know what the hell "Saltimbocca" is (ITS AMAZING, though its awful for you).
/I'll put my soap box away, but your probably missing out on a good time because custom/non standard maps are 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000x more fun than dust will ever be.
As for said Blatt experiment, give it time. Its been on the server 2 days and its going to take a bit of time to get thing sorted out.

Why would i order something new when i'm happy with the stuff i know about. I'm not about to pay $20 on a Saltimbocca to find out its horrible and starve all night when i could just order my chicken(which is very good but you'll think its awful because your never happy with what you have) and enjoy it. Well to me, ignorance is NOT bliss. To each their own though.
Though seriously, you should wait longer than a day before you complain about the voting.

In an another thread Fotty listed the custom maps that can come up for a vote and there aren't many. Why not download them ahead of time so you can be ready to play whenever they come up. If your on dsl each is like a minute or two to download. Hardly much effort.

Here is the list, as you can see there aren't many and you probably have most of these already.

my 2 cents:
i was just playing with myself .... in the server and i think its cool how it has 4 random "normal" maps then the last ones a custom map.. i voted for the custom.. and it was really cool that it said WARNING the foloowing is a custom map.. so people cant say they weret warned.. but yes im all for this new votemap, however as one of the custom map choices we should add that one map that plays the techno music in the kitchen.. whats that one called? its aweeeesome ive been singing that song for 2 months..

yes. Futurecom is the froshizzle its all about the techno.. there are so many good custom maps out there like fy_party, and fy_party.. to prevent people from leaving the server when a custom map comes on you should put a lock on their id so they cant exit out of steam, so theyll have nothing better to do then play.... yes.. WORLD DOMINATION brought to you in part by 7-11... really... drinking 3 gallons of pop for me IS not neccesarry..

THE ONLY good custom map is called HE_GLASS. BY far the most fun i ever had on cs.
I'd post a screen shot but this cool message is holding me back....

That error pops up every now and again. Write RG a letter-- this one is all their fault for running an outdated version of PHP. Either that or get over to www.simplemachines.org and tell them to release the next version of YaBBSE (renamed "SMF") already.
