Sick. Too bad the 'Toolbar' option isn't skinned, I usually go to my music, double-click a playlist, then minimize my WMP to the taskbar. I barely see the skinned mode, but when I do it's cool

Yeah, I know WMA sucks but the skin is still pretty cool! I use Itues myself the majority of the time. If you have copied Cd's with WMA can they be converted opver to Itunes or are you better off recording them with Itunes, Porter?

It doesn't really matter, but if you use iTunes to rip with, it'll fetch all the album info, tag the new MP3's correctly, and add them to your library all in one fell swoop.

So, why does everyone hate on WMP?
EDIT: Oh, and besides the fact that its a Microsoft program...'cause I know 90% of you would use that argument.

No, I'm talking more than just ripping music. WMP fetches album info, tags the .wma files and adds them to the library as well, so I don't see any reason not to use WMP. Like, is there a program that really stands out sound-wise, usability, etc? (I know I sound like a dork here, I just seriously want to know if theres something better out there.)
I only ask because WMP is the only program that seems to put out good, full sound on my system. I know I can't expect much considering I don't have top of the line speakers, but WMP has nice equalizer/bass settings and such that seem to have the nicest sound compared to anything I've tried in the past.

.wma files are the devil, they do nothing for me. They just weren't co-existing with my iPod. Fortuantly the MMJB (which I love does everything I want) kicks ass and takes names.

Ahhh...
Yeah, .wma's don't bother me since I have a .MP3/.WMA/CD-RW compatable diskman, which is cool.

Yeah, it's the interoperability thing. mwa's are a "proprietary standard" which means unless someone's reverse engineered a codec for it, you HAVE to use Microsoft stuff to use it. MP3's are pretty much universal.

I see...well I tried ripping a CD with iTunes just now and it seems to have turned out great, so I guess I've found something that I can rip with instead of WMP (Even though like I said, I didn't mind having to use .wma's 'cause my diskman reads that file-type anyway...) Except the fact that it seemed like the .wma's I ripped were quieter then my .mp3's...make sense?

Makes sense. That might be iTunes. It has a "Sound Check" feature, which auto-normalizes the sound levels in all the tracks you have in your library. It keeps you from having to reach for the volume knob which each new song because the new one is either tons louder or quieter than the last. You can set iTunes to normalize the CDs you burn from within the program so they come out sounding even too.

Actually if you do some reading you will find the music industry hates WMA! The way they record and reproduce music is a really bad way of doing it! Do some research and I have heard a difference, I use both Itunes & Microsoft.
