While I imagine it will happen eventually, it will probably be contingent on those who pay for the server actually wanting to.

Well not being one of the ones (one?) who pay for the server, I can't say.

Valve released a fix for CS:S yesterday for the bug that allowed any client to kick any other client without rcon or any special access. Up until yesterday, any connected player could just type kick playername in their console and that person would be kicked! On top of this atrociously stupid oversight, if a player tried to kick themselves, the whole server would crash!
This is not about very obscure mistakes-- Valve is missing very simple things that should have been caught a long time ago.. in fact, most of them should never have happened with a decent programmer writing the code. This is why I have no faith in HL2 and beyond, and why I doubt CSR will be moving to this "new" platform any time soon. If Source is anything like Steam, we'll need to wait 18 more months before it works [somewhat] reliably enough to make the switch!

Are you trying to say that Steam is even remotely reliable?

I was over at someone's house and got their sound working for HL2. I hadn't yet seen the game or played it. HL2 was a lot of fun although I got sick of barrel stacking and started playing source.
My impressions of source were mixed. The maps look excellent and that adds a lot to the game as well as cool little things like shooting water. The games feel remained largely the same and it wasn't a transition. Except for one thing, most of the guns and the two player models look so cartoonish. The colt looks like it was taken from Worms or something along with other guns. The player models kind of look like playmobile people to me.
Overall, I don't feel the need to get source at all right now. I got a fair amount of money returning all my books and having never played an mmorpg, WoW is looking like something I could enjoy. I think sometime i'll end up getting hl2 and playing source at some point. For right now, tons of people are still playing cs and if I feel the need to play cs, I got it.
You are able to get excellent frame rates from a geforce 4 ti 4600 in HL2 and Source, so don't go thinking you need a new card until you try it out with yours. HL and HL2 are cpu intensive and unless your playing Doom3, you don't need a uber card.

no to argue is your best option belive me
The reason why i am here is to wish you all a happy new year and my best wishes, i know now that fragging with you all again will not happen since i dont want to go back to cs 1.6 and csr will never move to source until steve jobs will code part of steam .
if i not wrong CSR will be this January 3 years old since we, a few ones wanted to keep a community together to play a multiplayer game in a sportship spirt that is hard to find out there. I tought that in the celebration of 3 years CSR will move to the new generation of counter strike , but this will no happen its a shame that some many money that is payed (goodwill) for the server is wasted in a empty server rather than in a clean a paceful place to play .
well i will look for a place like that cos i am tired of playing in pub servers with 10 years old kids flashing teammates.
see you , if any ones a good place my steam email is locote13@hotmail.com drop me a word or 2 or 3

Can the ones of us who play CS Source have an area of the forum to get together?
Seen as we won't have our own CSR CSS server we could just arrange meets on public servers - keep contact details updated with friends etc, maybe xfire.
Please?
