CSR IRC Setup Guide

Ok guys here is something I put together for the people who need help.

How to connect to mirc / #csreloaded

1. Download mirc from www.mirc.com

2. Install mirc

3. when you run mirc you will see the mirc options window. Fill out your name, email address, and nick name / alternative name and click connect to server.

4. when you connect to mirc a favorites window should come up ( if not its in Favorites / Organize favorites ) click on add.

5. The add channel window will come up. Fill out channel: with #csreloaded and under options click join on connect and minimize on join for your convenience ( do not close go to step 6 )

6. Click on add and the networks window will come up find gamesurge and click ok. that will take you back to the add channel window where all you have to do is click ok.

7. That will take you back to the mirc favorites where all you have to do is highlight #csreloaded and click join and your in.

I HIGHLY reccomend obtaining trillian (or trillian pro if you want to use other methods)...you can connect to AIM, MSN, ICQ, Y!, Jabber, and any IRC channel upon startup....it also checks your email account...and for all of you performance freaks, it uses less RAM than AIM

check it out here, its highly skinnable as well...i have an msn skin

(see next post)

If you use AIM be sure to pick up the minibrowser (Plugins) plugin in order to view HTML files...and do yourself a favor and check out the myriad of other pluggins

RECCOMENDATIONS

Minibrowser
Mychats -- displays your IRC favorites...look at my screenshot to see
Cabrio Meter
News
MSN popup
Winamp
IM forwarder (If you use a cell phone)

Chatzilla extension for Firefox

It worked fine for me. Though I have no use for IRC, legitimate or otherwise, so it was uninstalled.

It's free unlike the other stuff people linked. mIRC is shareware and only lasts for 30 days and trillian is only free for the "basic" edition.

Gaim a free alternative to trillian I thought of this halfway through my post and they have a windows version too. Since I don't use any other IM service but AIM, the integration of said IM service with MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, and IRC is pointless. Though for someone it might be useful.

I can't give you any advice really on how to use these programs except maybe Chatzilla, but I winged that too like most things.
