Steam Friends Down?

I have been unable to sign into friends for about a week now. Its quite annoying and consequently I'm considerably less likely to sit in the server and wait for people if I don't even know if they're around. So back to the subject of this, is steam friends down or is it just yanking my chain and claiming maitenence?

its been down for a week and 1 day.. supposedly it was supposed to be up sometime yesturday according to the steampowered formums but alas .... but yea its just annoying cuz i cant understand how considerably hard it can be to run friends......

Hmm...well, my friends list seems to be working, and none have mysteriously dissapeared. Maybee I'm lucky, or maybee they haven't gotten around to deleting mine yet? I think I had the same problem all of you had with my old account...but my new one seems to be fine, no missing friends or anything. It still goes down like everyone elses, but no friends missing so far.
Of course, the next time I log onto friends, I bet they'll all be gone

what scares me is how dependent STEAM has made us be to their services.. they OWN us. its a fact. but whats creepy is.. how did we ever communicate Pre-steam? i was just thinking about that? i think i sacraficed my computer to let AIM run while i was playing, BUT ANYWAYS my point is "Steam sucks"... you think they could at least address the issue just once.. but theyve yet too.. without friends i havnt wanted to play anymore.. my life has no more meaning.

I just got some sort of e-mail on this topic, so...if anyone is still having problems with the friends list, I suggest getting HLSW, it'll at least solve the problem for CSR and seeing who is online.
