Streaming video on my TV

Ok, so I bought the MLB.tv package so I can see all the Dodgers games via the internet. Is there anyway I can convert the stream so that I can play it on my TV instead of my monitor?
Thanks

Most modern graphics cards have composite or S-Video output on them. All you have to do is plug them into your TV. The display gets mirrored from your computer's desktop, so you just full-screen the video stream and it'll fill the TV too. Then you just hook the audio-out from your computer up to your stereo and you're all set. If your card doesn't have S-Video out, you probably need a new one anyway. There are other solutions, including add-on cards for your computer, but they simply aren't worth the bother or the price. A good graphics card will pay for itself, and have the added benefit of being able to feed a TV. Oh, and if you've got a really nice HDTV, most of those take DVI or VGA input, so you could hook your TV up to your computer exactly as if it was your monitor.
1) Good graphics card 2) Awesome TV
Those are your best two choices.

The common use of FireWire is to transfer DV (Digital Video) from a camcorder into your computer for editing and DVD authoring. There are add-on firewire devices that convert standard composite signals into DV for you, but I don't know of any that convert the other way. And besides which, your computer's screen doesn't output in DV, it outputs in VGA or DVI (or S-Video), so unfortunately one of those is what your TV has to be able to display.

My best friend and I used to spend summers on Lake Ontario with his Grandparents. They were Brooklyn Dodgers fans and I guess it just rubbed off on us. I still remember his grandpa teaching us how to read the box scores in the paper, and watching fuzzy games on the little 15 inch TV with the rabbit ear antenna.

Hockey is the most boring sport to watch on TV. In person or playing its great fun. Baseball is fun in all three forms.

I agree, the only reason i joined the league was to maybe spark something. I can't see how baseball is even remotly fun to watch. As for hockey i dont care for the NHL, i prefer to watch our junior or our unviersity teams play. much more entertaining for fraction of a price for a oilers ticket

| You've got to watch for the little things in baseball. It's kind of like chess, you have to watch it long enough and understand it before it makes any sense. Sit down and watch a few games of a particular team and get to know the players.
I pity the fool who watches the Roadrunners.

How did this end up working out for you Skip?
I am considering trying the mlb.tv since the audio on my TV died, and the only thing I need it for is to watch baseball. Additionally, there isnt really alot of games on up here in Canada this season anyway.
I tried the sample game that they have and I was kinda dissapointed with the poor quality on my monitor. What I really want to know is how the image looks on a TV, since it is hard to judge by looking at a compressed video stream fullscreen on a high-res monitor. I am also interested in the quality of the stream. The sample game choked out and stuttered on occasion, but I am not sure if that was due to my wireless network or not. For the price they are charging, it had better not be crappy like that.
Thanks!

I haven't done it yet because, I'm getting the games on satellite again now.
I have used it a couple times (when extra innings didn't have the Dodgers game) and with my cable connection I've only had trouble once with a choppy feed. As for quality of the signal, well it certainly doesn't look as good as my satellite feed does. You can't really see the ball after it's been hit. Signup for one month and try it, I think it's only like $19.95 a month (USD).

its 14.95. I think I may do without in the meantime since it is a bit pricey on my budget. Around the end of the season, I will probably want it alot more.
I have trouble seeing the ball too, but I really think that It will look better on a TV.
