Problems with the mic
« on: July 31, 2003, 09:50:25 PM »

Just bought these leet headphones (and expensive), and I hooked it up in the right jacks, and such, I also have the key binded, and it shows that I am pushing it by the mic thing in the bottom right hand corner. I also did all the mic testing and that wont work either. So I'm kinda puzzled... any help that you guys can give would be very helpful.

You get no sound whatsoever?
You say you did the mic tests, but what ones? If you haven't already, do the Half-Life one. In your Half-Life folder you will find a file called 'voice_tweak.exe'. Open this and do the config/test thing, that's how I fixed mine. Also, double click the speaker icon in your system tray and find the microphone slider and make sure it's at full and that the 'Mute' checkbox is unchecked....damn that checkbox has screwed me over so many times....

Did you make sure it's not muted? I know it's stupid but it's muted itself on me sometimes and I was getting frustrated till I figured out that's what it was.

Actually, the mic works when it's muted. Muting it works like muting your TV-- you just don't hear the sound come out of your speakers. The mic will still pick up sound when it's muted, it just won't feed that sound back into the speaker output.
Other than the voice_tweak.exe Primer suggested, I don't have an brilliant ideas. Can you use the Windows Recorder program to record your voice okay?
