Sound Scripts

I have gotten yes's and no's when I ask other people on the server if they hear the Unreal Voice say at the start of every round "PREPARE TO FIGHT" and the same voice say "HEAD SHOT!" EVERY time there's a HS. I've also noticed the Unreal voice say "HUMILIATION!" when someone gets knifed. I don't know about anyone else but I have to admit that these sounds irritate me--in fact, a lot more than they probably should. I'll start off by asking if there's any way for me to turn off these sounds on the client side, that way I don't have to rob everyone else of their sounds.
On that note, though, I would like to point out (because I know I certainly didn't make it so my CS said those things) that I play CS to play CS. If I wanted to play Unreal I would go play Unreal. Maybe I'm being too much of a purest here but hearing all those sounds just made me feel like I wasn't playing CS. I'm probably overreacting and if there's a way to turn these things off from the clientside then no one will hear another peep out of me. If that's not the case though, I would like to request that a poll goes up to see if those kinds of sounds are what the server wants.
That's my two bits.

ITs statsme
Only way I know of stopping them is to actually find the wav files and deleting them. I dont get "Prepare to Fight" or "Headshot".. only thing I get is "Humiliation"..

Well to let you know how those sounds got on your machine.
Basically at some point and time you connected to a CS server that automatically downloads those files onto your PC. Then when that specific action happens it pop's it up onto your screen and into your speakers.
I do not know the specific .wav files but I'm sure someone here would know. Just remove them from your pc and you would be set. No more annoying sounds.

the headshot script and "prepare to fight" script have just recently found their way onto CS:Reloaded though, i've seen the "humiliation" script since CS:Reloaded started (or since i started playing on Reloaded).
whether the sound is on your computer or not seems irrelevent to me, there still has to be a script of some kind that RUNS these sounds and makes the file start "playing" the sound.
I haven't played unreal tournament, so some of the sounds don't get to me as much as Raven, but as often as some people get head shots on this server, alot of these sounds get annoying very fast.
humbly yours,

Unfortunatly deleting these wav files would only make you re-download them next time you connect. This is run by StatsMe and will be removed in the next couple of days. For now you can try replacing the wav files with less annoying sounds. Such as, take "chirp.wav" (I have no clue if this is a real wav, so don't ask), and change the name to "headshot.wav" (once again, no clue of the real name). Copy it over the old headshot.wav and bingo, instead of UT voice, you get a little chirp.
Or if you can stomach them for a day or two, I'll get to work on bashing those peeps from UT out of our server.

raven, if you still here the sounds, let us know, but it should be all happy now

I really like the Humilliation sound. Knives don't happen that much do they? And when I get knifed, it gives me something to lol at instead of getting mad. lol.

heh, i'm not sure R.K. and I would be completely against SOME sound playing when someone got knifed, but maybe we could get one that wasn't from some other game. Heh, we could get like a homer simpson's doh or something? I dunno, I was under the impression RK didn't like the sound scripts merely because they were from some other game (Unreal Tournament, I believe).

I was on the server for a short time yesterday for the first time since I fixed my rebooting problem, and quite frankly that StatsMe crap is, well, crap. The statisics are fine and helpful, but if I wanted to hear "humilation" I'd play Quake or UT2K3. It doesn't belong in CS and needs to go. That's not the kind of server I want CSR to be. What say yee all?

See, that was my point Porter. Like I said, and then you said, if I wanted to play Quake or Unreal I'd go play those games, but I want to play CS. I maintain the stance that yes, some sounds might be cool, but try to make them original.

i believe primer is merely referring to the knife sound script because he feels it lightens the mood, and helps him not get frustrated with getting knifed (i know i personally feel like a baboon when i get knifed). And primer was hoping we could keep something there to "lighten the mood" i don't think specifically we need to keep "humiliation!" everytime it happens, but his request (if i understand him correctly) is to keep something there.

I'm not horribly abject to having the humiliation sound but I'm just saying as a whole I would rather not have to deal with Unreal sounds whilst I'm playing CS.
And by the by the "PREPARE TO FIGHT" sound was back on the server when I was playing this afternoon. By the by. (Although that really wasn't bothering me a great deal, I just thought I'd mention it.)

reccomendation:
Lose the hs sound. You dont delete the sound file itself. Server op needs to edit the statsme.cfg/sound.cfg file and rem (//) the lines for the wav file.
You can also add custom sounds to this config to make your server unique (or download sanks sound plugin). I suggest the sank sounds plugin it allows for many custom sounds to be added, and access levels to be set (so you can have admin only sounds, or full on public access sounds).
Just some reccomendations.

as of this moment i believe that ryo did "take care of the sounds" at least, they surely aren't playing on my machine, and i didn't have to do anything, but talk to Ryo about it. whether he did your way or not though, i have no idea.
