under players online can we add a connect to mirc link so that when ever you guys r looking at the forums you can just click on it to connect to mirc and see who is there and talk about things•

I have it set to open when I open Chatzilla, as its the only reason I have an IRC client. Too bad the only people in it are just idling.

what im trying to do is set up a meting place where people can go and chat in real time. This can help the community grow and save lots of space in the forums.
Idling is not a bad thing• I use it like msn I turn it on (7am est • 10:30pm est) and keep it on if someone types something out and im not at my cpu ill get back to them but if im there I will talk to them., just like msn its on and depending on if im there r not people can talk to me. But in mirc more people can join the conversation.

Some how I doubt it will catch on.
The idea of an IRC channel had been proposed numerous times in the past, and nobody really expressed much interested in it and I think the same holds true today. If people need to talk with someone they do it through Aim, Steam, MSN, or post on the forums if its something everyone needs to see.

I have no problem with you trying to get people to use IRC and nothing against posting a link somewhere. In fact, I wish you the best of luck, but realistically, I don't think people will be flocking to it.
Why don't you throw it on the MOTD or whatever that screen is called when you first join the server?

When you connect to the server and a screen appears and it lists the servers rules, a donation button, etc. I think it's called the "Message of the Day". I'm not sure though, but that is what I'm referring to.
You also could probably get Porter or someone else to tack it onto those random csay messages that float around in game.
That is if you really want to pimp it.

not trying to bash your idea or anything zeus, but the other side of using forum boards is that it logs everything that we've ever discussed here. We've easily had over 10,000 posts on all kinds of topics here, that we can always reference whenever we need to. Just something to keep in mind.

Zeus, Porter is still kinda sorta on vacation, so I'd suggest PMing him on it, he's at least near a machine at this point, but I don't know how much of a "work-mode" he's in at this point, I'd blame Yuna  , but yeah, drop a line to him, see what he says. He'll for sure be back and in "full operation" by wednesday.

It would become even more cluttered than it already is. I think the right hand section of the bar has too much going on there already. The "Get more packs here" looks awkward and out of place. Honestly, if you couldn't think to look under "downloads" for additional map packs, you're probably going to have even more trouble trying to install your first map pack and won't be looking for more.
I personally don't think we need to throw more stuff up there. I'm a minimalist.
