I'm all for it. We would need to get the permission of each map's owner to include their work in a pack we would be making publicly available for download though.
Normally, if I were making a map pack for my own (and my clan's) use, I wouldn't pay too much attention to this detail, but putting CS-Reloaded's name on this one worries me just a little.
What maps would be in this? fy_poolday fy_joust_v3 cs_haste ? ? ?

if there is going to be a map pack, this will lead to the oppurtunity to extend the number of maps we can have.
when i got maps like haste and legato, i just chose the best 7 or so that i thought people would have fun with. there are so many maps out there that are better then assault, vertigo, and other maps people are getting sick of.

No admin will ever play that map, and its one of my favorites, come on, you have to change it to the map so more people HAVE TO download it, try it and play it !! god, its frustrating lol

Good! Okay Neo, that means it's your job to get in touch with the creator of every map we plan to include and make sure we have their written permission, okay? Then get the permission notifications to me and I'll build the map pack myself based on which ones you were able to get!
Ah, teamwork.

You only need permission if the author has specified that permission is needed. One example might be if the map is from an exclusive map pack - for instance de_legato is part of the first CSCentral map pack although I don't know whether or not it was exclusive.

Fair enough. Then all we need is either documentation that permission is NOT needed (such as the TXT or the readme? I would take no mention of needing permission as an okay to use the map), or actual permission from the author if we do need it, for each map!
I'm excited about this now. Neo has already volunteered, and I don't know if he wants help or not, but I think you would be the man for the job (if you care for it) Grounded. I'll do whatever I can to help. Just PM or email with any requests, ideas, questions... anything.

I don't mind - I'll help any way I can. If a pack does go ahead I'd suggest a few things:
1) No 'betas' or unfinished maps. 2) No maps that are widely available in other map packs - even if there's no permission issue it's kind of bad form to step on toes like that. 3) Each person posts a nomination of say 10 maps and then the most requested make up the pack (or are selected based on suitability/file size etc.) 4) A small number of maps - most sensible packs have been 5 and 10 and even 10 is pushing it if they are decent sized maps.

The only thing I dont agree with is your second comment. The point of this map pack is so that you wont have to go looking for the maps in other places but right here..

Okay that was maybe a little generalised but here's what I meant: someone already suggested both cs_haste and de_legato in the same post. Now both of these are excellent maps but they are both in the CSCentral Map Pack (which everyone should really have anyway!) and so could be easily downloaded eslewhere. Just slap a link to the Map Pack page on CSCentral. Here's the list of maps in that pack just for reference:
CS Haste, DE Bright, DE Deadlock, DE Evergreen, DE Italian_v2, DE Legato, DE Museum and DE Pasta
These maps are all great and so it's no huge sacrifice to download the entire pack instead of letting haste and legato occupy space in our own pack. See?

I can see both sides of it. On one hand, it doesn't make sense to duplicate maps that are readily available elsewhere, but on the other, it would be an incredibly handy and good thing for our players to only ahve to download one mappack and have everything they need. When you think about it, duplicating the maps into our own mappack takes less space than having to download two full mappacks that have maps we don't use.
I have a solution though. CSR will simply load the CS Central map pack onto the server. Then downloading that pack will be fully justified, and any other maps we want to have will be available in our own mappack! And there will be zero overlap! Anybody have any gripes about that idea?

Makes sense to me. All the maps in that pack are worthy of playtime anyway.

yes, those maps are worth doing, and they aint like the run-around-shoot-em-up-map, they are like any kind of map which takes skill and stragety.
