Please fix this!

One of my friends stold one of my other friends cd key and got it banned from csr, now i don't know his name or what he did, but it is Kavas's cd key that was banned, if you could please unban his wonid that would be a great thanks

My personal (not official/final) opinion: Your "friend" owes your other friend $20 for a new HL cd. I'd get a little ticked if someone stole something out of my house. It's not our job to make up for 3rd party assholetude...obviously the wonid was banned for a reason...who's to say if it's unbanned it's not going to waste admin time dealing with the exact same issue?

ya well if the kid is dirty enough to steal his cd key, ribs do you really think that he will give him 30 bucks to buy a new copy, well guess what i don't think so. So if you could just unban his cd key it will just be the kavas who did nothing but is just the victim.

I agree with what Ribs said, it's not CSR's business getting your friend a new CD key. I also think hearing it from "your friend's" mouth might speed things up instead of all of us talking about an imaginary person.

my question, and I'm surprised no one has asked for it yet...though maybe it is included in raven's "need more information plea" is, how does the admin team know that the original "thief" of the CDkey isn't still in possession? That is to say, if someone stole your friends CDkey, why isn't he still playing on it? How did you get it off of his system, and how do you know said thief doesn't have it written in another place? I think for your friend future security risks, Ribs is right that your friend should get a new copy, with a NEW CD key in order to keep playing.

The process of allowing someone to steal a CD-key is beyond me too...did Kav let this guy muck around in his computer's registry? I doubt he happened to have his HL cd with code just laying around. Did Kavas just find out what a jerk this other kid is? Did he memorize the CD key or write it on a piece of paper when K. wasn't looking? Sounds like BS to me.
You can buy a used CD in EB for about $10...I think there's a used copy in University Mall. If the kid isn't going to pay for it, I hate to suggest going the "wimpy" route but sounds like a parental intervention is in order. If my kids were your age and they pulled a stunt like that they would buy a new CD for Kavas and if they didn't do it fast enough I'd kick them in the tailpipe and take away their monitor.

no his cd, that has the cd key is in my room, and the kid stold it from there, he actually has mine too, but he knows if he uses mine that i will cannon his house and his car, but he just read it off the cd the other night i guess.

hey, im Kavas, the other kid who's cd key was stolen, my cd for cs what at kidshafts house, and he had some kids over and they stold it from his desk to use, i just got home from work and found that my cd key was taken, and i am apparently banned from csr (the only server i play at) so i just want to be unbanned, and i have already talked to the kid who took it and he knows not to use it again, so if you could just unban me, everything will be back to normal oh and my wonid is 2829175

hey yall, id really rather not go waste $20 on a new cd key, but if thats what it takes to start playing again i will. the kid who jacked my cd key knows not to use it anymore, so thats not really an issue. id really appreciate an answer to weather or not you'll unban me, since if i go buy a new copy of cs and then you unban my old wonid ill be kinda pissed.

Not quite. From what I was told the other night shaft calls the kid and he is like omg stfu die come and fight me. And shaft is just like don't use the key dirtbag.

i really don't see why u won't unban it, well if this happend to you would start crying and complaning, why don't u just unban it, and if you end up banning him, or someone using it, then he will buy a new copy, but let's just give it a try and unban him, and if the cd key gets banned, then thats final, just one try pleaz ribs, we are on our way to college, we don't have 30 dollars to spend on something that we already have if u know what i mena 8*(

ya well thanks for your input, but here in america where our dollar is worth somthin it costs 30 bucks, and maby it's 25 there, but it's 30 here, and he got banned for swearing and disrespecting is what he told me, plus he isn't smart enough to hack. And the kid who actually uses the cd key doens't hack caus he isn't that flamboyantly vermont (u know what i mena if u understand) as hackers are. So i am just saying unban it, and if it gets banned again then it's banned, it's not a big deal to unban it, and if it gets banned again then he will get a new one, you know it's not that easy to pull out 30 bucks for something that you already own, i think most will agree, well the kids at least

You know what, this is a great analogy for another pet peeve of mine; people who use Napster-type programs.
Even though this mysterious person who doesn't have a name didn't physically steal your game, they stole the "concept of ownership" of it from Kav. So much for "victemless crime".
Don't even use that pansy excuse that you're on your way to college and don't have $30 to spare on me. I worked 40+ hours a week and went to school nights for 7 years, paid every dime of it out of my own pocket, and paid my mom rent the years I was home (since I had a paper route, actually), bought my own food, clothes and games, and went to the laundramat with my clothes. $30 is less than the cost of a good date. Besides, you can buy it used for a lot less than that if you just do some footwork.

Bottom line: I am sympathetic to the problem, but not enough to unban a CD-key that mysteriously got over to this other person's house, why Kav's CD key just happened to be at your house (since you only need it to install the game, not to play it...I have a feeling Player X was loaned the game, in which case I lose sympathy.).
If you can convince anyone else on the admin team or team CSR to give you a second chance, I'll go along with it - but my mind is made up.

um see it got to my house, by the fact that me, and most of my friends play cs, so when he bought his copy, we lanned and i installed it for him, got him all the maps, the retail fix, the config adjustmints, and got him to a point whre he wasn't a noob and that his cs was set up in a good way and not the deafults, and once he had the cd, it was just left here, and u can ask him about it, thats how, and when the other kid and i were lannin he took both our cd keys, seeing how i don't lock them up,
and ribs i congragulate you on paying for stuff yourself, but it's 2003, and kids don't work caus parents give us money, but they don't give money for something you already have.

This really pushes my buttons in all the wrong ways...I moved away from NJ to get away from this attitude. We had a name for people like this, but if I said it I'd have to ban myself from the server.
If there was any room for debate as far as I'm concerned it's gone. You put the game on the kid's computer and he took advantage of it. If you're not going to learn the merits of working for what you have, at least learn what responsibility for your actions is. Discussion closed.
