A message from your friendly neighborhood admins:

Ok guys, once again we are going to have a private, invitation only, end of month, password protected, [insert more adjectives here], CSR Game.

Only this time we are mixing things up a bit. This won't be an admins versus game. We all like de_ maps.. planting the bomb, defusing the bomb, calling people nubs when they don't even know they have the bomb. We also like cs_ maps. Rescuing hosties, camping hosties, some nub not shooting the last remaining T covered hosties when 2 were already rescued and he is the only one left. We all love as_ maps... wait do we??? ok so oilrig is pretty fun...

Well some of you know, and some of you don't, that there is a fourth, yes fourth type of Counter-Strike map that gets little play these days. The infamous ES_ maps...  unlike anything we have played on CSR before, these maps place the terrorists in a position where they must escape from the CTs by finding rescue points on the map.

Ts have no buying ability, and there are generally a few scattered weapons, nades, and armor in the spawn area. Now what makes these maps great is that for one it is something new, and also it will require a lot of team work, as 50% of the Ts must make it to safety to win. This will mean that they must split up, create distactions, and work together to help each other escape.

On the other side of things, CTs must cover the rescue points to avoid from letting the nasty Ts escape. The maps switch the teams after 8 rounds so each team will get a chance to play both sides.

Maps lines up for the game are
es_columbia, es_jail, es_anarchy, es_improbable

2 of these maps were made by two of our own CSR mappers Grounded and Deuce (improbable by Grounded, anarchy by Deuce). They have been working hard with their legs chained to the computer desk to get these maps done on time (thanks to Ribs for letting us borrow those leg cuffs)

Respond if your are interested. Game is scheduled for March 31st, roughly around 7 PM EST. We will close sign ups in five or so days, and alert those who will play. Again, slots will be based on overall presence in the CSR community.

As more details are available they will posted, as well as links to download the maps we will be playing.

thatd be in the middle of my spring break.. cant think of doing anything better.... not that iam implying there is something better than cs.. cuz theres not... except er nothing... nothing involving a pink platapus thats for sure.. anywayz id be happy to play if im picked........

Believe me. That is so easy to say now, but things always take longer than you plan when writing software (especially with me). And I am also under pressure to do extrememly well on this since my mark in the course hasnt been all that healthy. Getting it done ahead of time just isnt a common practice in Computer Science.

Also, 7pm ET is 5pm MT, and I usually am not even home at that time.

Boy do I hear that!! This last project I was working on (building my own interpreter from scratch) was originally assigned with 6 days to finish it off (we've been working on a syntax and scope checker the entire term). At the end of those 6 days, the professor pushed it back to midnight of the last day of finals: another 7 days later. And even so, neither I nor the other guy in my class managed to finish. Made me get a B in the class.

i would be interested in playing but i somehow doubt my week long contribution to the site amounts to much.

But i think the fact that i knifed grounded on his own map will probably result in bias against me anyway

Oh its really easy to knife grounded i've done it about 10 times myself . Its because of his internet someone with 200ping constant is asking to get knifed  .

i think i can handle 1 late night - tho i am getting tired in my old age these days!

for some reason my ping is over 150 on the server even though i have broadband but i cant complain it cood be worse

the high ping must be a good excuse for getting knifed - but i know the truth - after our knife fight it is fair to say grounded and myself are just not that good!!!

Well I just finished uploading the final of Deuce's es_anarchy and the es_improbable final is already awaiting Porter's attention. I'm posting this because both maps have some slightly tweaked es_ gameplay and hence have one slight glitch that is pretty noticeable but not really anything that should affect the way the game plays. I'm mentioning it now to avoid a flood of 'OMG THIS IS WEIRD' messages popping up during the game or on the forums afterwards. Ok here goes:

In a basic es_ map, when a T reaches the escape zone he doesn't disappear and 'escape' as would be logical (presumably because the game mode coding is unfinished or experimental). Once we discovered this, I said to Deuce that I could devise a 'waiting room' system whereby the escaping T is teleported to a separate part of the map to wait out the rest of the round. This led to more problems i.e. what to do when a CT goes into the escape zone - in CS there is sadly no way to distinguish between a CT and a T when making a map. More problems and ad hoc solutions followed and the final upshot is one tiny glitch that isn't going to be resolved:

In the very first round of es_improbable or es_anarchy, both teams will be equipped with glocks AND usps.

Sounds a bit funky eh? Well that's just the way it has to be, more for my sanity than anything else It is possible to correct this glitch but in doing so some more serious glitches are generated and therefore don't make it worthwhile. I hope this little oversight doesn't spoil your fun and please, PLEASE don't post to tell me that you've 'discovered' a glitch after the game Unless it's a different one of course....
