ES_ Mappack and Invitations
« on: March 28, 2004, 06:37:24 PM »

After a weekend of aggravating map compiling, es_anarchy and es_improbable are complete! So we present to you, the es_ mappack that you will most likely want to download before the 31st:
You can download the mappack by clicking on the above picture, or by clicking here.
As for invitations, the way it will work this time is that everyone who has already signed up will recieve the password for the server on Wednesday during the afternoon. This will enable you to get into the server ahead of time before slots fill up. After 15 minutes of gameplay, we'll take off the password, and let other people take up the remaining slots.
The server will be passworded at 6:45 PM EST on Wednesday, March 31st and the es_maps will start at 7:00 PM EST. Hope to see you there!

Since nobody has replied to this yet, I will throw something out there.
I have concern over the names of your maps.
'Improbable' suggests that it may be slightly unfair for one team, so much that it would be considered improbable for that team to win.
'Anarchy' suggests, that there will be plenty of cursing and teammate back stabbing going on, unregulated by the governing body that is the admin team.
I'm sure that this is not what Deuce and Grounded were trying to get at when they named them, and I am sure they have deeper metaphorical meaning.
Care to enlighten us?

the whole point of es maps is like the t's aren't gona win from what i understand. The whole point is the ct's are gona win, and if the t's win then everyone laughs at the ct's caus their stupid.

Well anarchy was presumably named because it's kind of like a war torn city or something.... ?
I called mine improbable because it makes absolutely no sense in terms of backstory, and to a degree layout/appearance. There are a few nods to that thoughout the map if you look, plus read the .txt file. Also I like the word 'improbable' and I've used it as an alias on CS before.
As for balance: in standard es_ maps Ts are the underdogs for sure but, for the first few rounds at least, they should have the upper hand on ours. Improbable in particular has a decent stack of weapons for the Ts to pick up so they'll have primary weapons in the first couple of rounds while the CTs might not (they definitely won't for the first round at least).

sigh. i forgot that jail requires that wad.. i'll put it up once i get a chance
as for the naming of the map, i called mine anarchy because i havent the slightest idea what i'm doing when making a map. i'm still a noob.
one of the best things i like about these escape maps is how it switches teams. after every 3 rounds or so (the cs manual says 8..seems wrong), the ct's and t's switch..makes it so you cant join a team just because you dont like the other team's objectives

*cough*cough*...assault...*cough*cough*
Plus it means that the Ts get a chance to spend the cash they earn from escaping and fragging CTs

the maps automatically flip flop the teams after x amount of rounds... and there wont be any admin owning as this isnt an admin versus game.. admins will be on both teams

I was impressed by anarchy yesterday when we played 2v2. It suits small games quite well. Good job. I wouldn't mind having it on the regular rotation.

no..actually it didnt.
turns out our waiting room system is not ideal for es_ maps...if more then half the t's are dead, its impossible to accomplish the escape, which means it then goes to kill the other team first.
meaning if there is 1 T left, and he escapes..he's in our waiting room..and no escape.

Slay and no clip commands came in handy when there were a few stray T's.
