MySQL Errors

You may be noticing a lot of "Got error 28 from table handler" errors coming from the forums. This is not at all our issue. Error 28 means the hard disk MySQL is using to store its databases on is full. Since RG insists on consolidating EVERY customer database on one server (over 100 databases in all!), everybody feels the effects when one account screws up and fills the drive. I've emailed RG support about this numerous times, but I doubt they will do anything to "permanently" solve this problem.
To give you an idea of the scale I'm talking about here: In the past 14 months of operations, with a total of 19908 posts, 1410 topics and 178 users, CSR has consumed about 13MB of database space. ...that's all! It's not very much, is it? Whoever is filling the disk is doing an awfully bad job at managing their account, and RG doesn't seem to want to do anything about it.
A word of warning too. I was only able to make THIS post by deleting old log entries from OUR database account-- so expect the forums to go back offline at any time. I'll try freeing up as much more space as *I* can thru-ought the morning.

Well here's the good news: I sent an email to RG with 206 reported errors from the forum's error logs. They've moved our DB to machine dedicated solely to MySQL. While this might not prevent the disk from filling up, it should improve performance all around. We are no longer competing for the DB server's attention with a hundred other web servers!
At the same time, this move means I've had to lock the forums down and transfer the settings over to the new DB server. We've also lost 4 or 5 posts made from about 9 AM Central time because of the transition.
Unfortunately, this transfer has also broken our homepage and a couple other things, and since updating these things has been on my list since December, I figured this would be as good a time as any to just get it done. For the time being, the forums should be good to go, and hopefully we won't have any more problems with DB errors!
