Site Maintenance

Well, the time has come. I've had a new site backend waiting in the wings since December, and since we've had a bit of a shuffle with the MySQL database today already, I've decided to go ahead and transfer the rest of the site over. This transition will probably not go without glitches, most notably broken links, so please keep an eye for them. This process might take a couple days for me to work out all the kinks, so also remember to be patient. While I'm working, the forums should still be open for business, so you can occupy yourselves there until I'm done.

Okay! I got lots of work done, with a slightly smaller amount left to do. Everything EXCEPT the forum has been converted over to the new backend. I am aware of a couple problems already, including: the downloads page is offline, the mapcycle page needs some tweaking, and the random screenshot mini section needs a correct pathname. I haven't yet updated the forum display template to use my new system-- there are a couple bugs there, and I have to get to work. Please let me know if you spot anything else, and I should be finishing up tonight and/or tomorrow afternoon!
PS: You might not notice a drastic change in the new system. Don't worry, it's designed to look identical. Underneath, there is a TON of new power that's gonna let us do things like change the color scheme of the ENTIRE SITE for each and every user. You will also be able to choose which "sidebar" sections are displayed for you, and even if you want the sidebar displayed at all. There are LOTS of really neat possibilities now, and I hope I get to start showing some of them off shortly! Have a good evening everybody!

Check the "MySQL Errors" thread. There was a period of about two hours yesterday morning where we had a new copy of our database set up on a different server, but the forums were still configured to use the old server. There was no way for me to move the handful of posts from the old DB server to the new one. That's why the forums were in maintenance mode most of yesterday-- once I realized what RG did, I didn't want the two versions of the DB to get any more out of sync.
