HalfLifeSource.com

Hey all. I've received an email from a guy named Andy who is with halflifesource.com. From what I can gather, HLS is mostly devoted to Half-Life 2 news. They also have HL, CS, and TFC servers, downloads, news on all sorts of things, a big list of Half-Life related sites, and a community a lot like ours.
Andy has asked if we would like to "swap hyperlinks" (we link to their site, and they link to ours). I figured it would be best to see what all you regulars thought of their website before I give him an answer. So please, swing by http://www.halflifesource.com and poke around. Check out as much as you can, and post your opinion as a reply to this topic.
Don't bother to vote if you haven't voiced your opinion by posting in this thread. Andy and HLS only deserve legitimate reason for or against this idea, and not the ill-informed opinions of people who haven't even bothered to check out their site.

My opinion, its a good idea... the site has plenty of information... its a very large community... which will have lots of hits, and lead to maybe more people heading over our direction... and I mean, what could it hurt to link to them?

my previous post i dont explained enough. so i better fill in before i get flamed.
here was my main reason for voting no..also note that this is my opinion..
1) in all honestly, i doubt linking between the sites would really matter. if it comes down to more people voting yes, i certainly wouldnt care if it was put up. but if it was..we would just be link #91 on their list of other "partnerships" (yes..i counted..90 of them are there).
2) again..signing up just so you can access to maps and skins is something i dont like. thats just my opinion, and it does count toward what i think, even if it doesnt for others.
sorry if you dont agree with my opinions. but i did look over the site. this isnt just a vote without looking thing.

I personally don't have a problem with having to sign up to dl files/skins, because in all honesty I probably won't be dl any maps or skins that I can't get on CSR. As for linking to their site, and vice versa, I don't think it will bring any less traffic, but it certainly can't hurt.
OK, that's my 2 cents.

I don't have a problem with it at all. I think exposure is almost always a good thing (when you're looking for it) and that's what we want, right? More people to play on our server and check out our sight? We may be only #91 on a list, but that's just another list we weren't on at all before. Who knows may be some people will read the list from the bottom up .
Seriously, either way is fine by me, but I don't see it hurting anything. There's my two cents.

Well I checked out the site, and its not all all our 'cup of tea' so-to-speak in that we are purely a cs community..... and they are everything HL....... so its not of that much use to most of us, but then again its no harm anyway.
Why not. It aint going to hurt anything to do it.

The only reason I voted yes is because they had a flame forums, which I thought was cool. Besides that it is a pretty big site and I don't think anyone from there will notice csr for the reason that deuce listed.

i voted no because if you look at their links section there are like 50+ other sites linked there and i dont think we share any common-ness(hehe) with any of the other sites there, we would just be one site out of a hundred or so others... and theres no reason someones going to go through the whole list and check out every site, if anything it will just be by chance... i donno it seems pointless to me

I have to say I'm pretty split. I don't like the fact that their are like 50 gillion other links there. I have a feeling we'd be doing more of a favor for them, then they would us.
I flipped through a few of their forums, and even posted. Frankly, I don't like the way they set it up considering the volume they are trying to attract. There is no topic break down after you get past Counter-Strike. For posts, you know how many different things there could be on just counter-strike? I mean look at our forums, we are strictly a CS server and have how many different topic break downs?
There website layout isn't terrible, but frankly, Ryo, Porter, and MM have done TONS better with our site. Makes your appreciate our site more if anything. There maps and downloads section for CS was limited at best, and I didn't see ONE skin for CStrike either (and yes, I was looking ).
Though I wouldn't throw a huge fit if we ended up with a link to them on our page, I have to say I think there are much better and valuable CS web sites out there.

checked out the site, it's alright. it focuses on halflife mainly but i guess it's linkable if you want more traffic. i don't really see the need though.
