Why I chose Firefox

I didn't just listen to Porter and the other computer experts on CSR, I mean just because they work in the industry or have a degree doesn't mean they know everything right?

I did careful research and found this great side by side comparison that really made up my mind. http://www.bbspot.com/News/2005/01/firefox_vs_internet_explorer.html

Having experience using firefox makes IE completely unusable.

(what? I have to actually go to google.com to search???)

I know! That's gotta be the second biggest advantage. (The first being tabbed-browsing.)

The google toolbar for IE was a godsend.

Though the biggest advantage of Firefox for me is extensions and all the niffty things you can add to it. On the status bar alone  I have my local weather, an RSS News Deally, Adblock, and FoxyTunes.

I'd also recommend this extension.

Spellbound Spell Checker

Just follow the installation page because you need to download a dictionary separately. It's extremely useful for those who can't be bothered to look up a word or like to have their posts read well.

Dood - click on the little google icon in the search bar and you'll see other search engines as well, including (ready?) DICTIONARY.COM.... :-P (and ebay too BTW, now THAT's cool.)

Yeah, the search bar is pretty cool. I've added all sorts of stuff to it. Though the highlight the word and right click is faster than copying and pasting. It's all about the speed....

...and the rock. Definately the rock.

OMG!!!!!! I didn't even know you could do that!!!

Can we change this into a 'cool things you can do with firefox' thread?

My fav is being able to open an entire folder of bookmarks in tabs all at once (Bookmarks >> Pick folder >> Open in tabs) - I have 5 sites that I visit just about every day, and this was just awesome.

There is also an extension where you can click and drag a link to a blank spot on the page and it automatcially opens it in a new tab.

Another bonus for using Linux, the ENTIRE X window user interfaces is highlight-click copy paste.

Although ctrl-c ctrl-v isnt all that slow to use in Windows.
