Server Busier

Is it just me or do we seem to be getting alot more randoms on since the holidays?
Porter could that have something to do with changes in the way Steam is listing servers? I remember you saying at one point that our server name was hampering our ability to draw randoms because of the way it showed in searches or something?

Not bragging but I have talked to new comers in this server told them about our web site and how this is a good server • most of them become regulars ..woot + when I play at other servers (using other names) I advertise this server and I do see people from the other servers playing here

Yeah, there was a new guy on last night called Stanley who played for a solid hour using only the P228. This man is legendary.

I've dabbled with it myself too, I really like the sound it makes as you rip off a clip at someones head.

I think it's pretty nasty and cheap sounding - I suppose it depends on your Sound Card and headhpones though. My fav pistol is probably USP - or comedy elites.

I think the server is busy because a lot of our doing what Zeus does and trying to get people to come to CSR. I think the regulars that are friendly or a little crazy a fun like myself make people want to hang out with you. I can not tell you how many people I talk to weekly from other servers and stay in touch with. I think all the people here who have stuck around no matter what deserve some thanks. I do it strictly for myself and Skip because we are friends and enjoy seeing eachother. I am excited to see Killer and Trickster, Nicky and Sharky, Moste and Damiea, crazy Labette, Zeusy, JB, Grounded, X-Factor, Primer, SupaFly, Druz, Ryio and Porter himself though that seems far and between lately, oh I must say all the new or old B.D. Guys. So zeus you are not the only pimp and in the end we are all ho's!

I'm not gonna discount the effect that regulars can have on spreading the word and getting people to try CSR, but there have been recent changes to the server list again. We lost our "randoms" about the same time that they "improved" the server list a couple months ago to ping server with lower IP numbers first, which means out of the 15,000 CS server out there, the ones that END with .1 and .2 are gonna show up first. Most people don't wait for the whole list to fill, they just pick one out of the first hundred that show up. That puts people with servers that have IPs ending with .200 and .201 (etc.) at a distinct disadvantage. Even with our respectable .31, I think we lost a lot of randoms because of that change.
Recently, Valve has changed the server list AGAIN to ping servers starting from the same last-octet as YOUR IP. That means if *my* IP is 68.21.28.3, then I'll start getting servers that end with .3 too; and then from .2, and then from .4 then from .1, and then from .5, and so on. This randomizes the entire player population in that every player will start getting different servers from the list, but eventually every player will end up with essentially the same list. This doesn't help as much as the ORIGINAL method, but it does increase the number of people that have CSR show up quickly from 'none' to 'some'.
The important part is for regulars to start taking advantages of this change as much as possible. Now that it's likely for one or two randoms to be on at any given time (or join at any given time), you should have to sit in the server alone much anymore, and games should pick up much faster than before. The regulars should try to give games a chance again, since it's much more likely for randoms to see a 6/20 game in their list and join.

We damn near had a 10 v 10 last night a couple times, so whatever is happening it's definitely better than it has been in a long time.
