New Maps Progress

Okay, so I might have been a little over-zealous in hunting down maps that I myself have enjoyed in the past in addition to all the suggestions posted somewhere else (off topic board maybe?). Currently my hard drive has over 700MB of new maps download and extracted to a generic CS directory structure. The zip file is being built as I type this (I need it to get the maps into my personal cstrike directory safely).
I will be testing each and every map in the group by starting a dedicated server on my machine and joining (and therefore downloading the new map) from Raven's machine to make sure they won't crash the server when I upload them all. There are a lot of maps the Wumpas really enjoyed playing on iCabbit that I am excited to see coming to CSR.
I haven't figured out how to handle which maps I should upload and which ones get left out yet. I will be posting a complete list here. How about any map that someone here nominates from the list gets included on the server? And to make sure this doesn't get to big, you're limited to 3 maps a person. If you can manage to persuade someone else into using their nominations for maps, that's fine. Don't overlap though, because you'll be wasting your nominations! And naturally, objective-based maps will be getting preference to fy_ style maps.

Here's a list of available maps. I reserve the right to remove any that are later found to be corrupt or incomplete! Admittedly, a lot of these are more or less worthless, and you can ignore them. I realize the list is hard to visualize as well, so please check out iCabbit's HLMaps pages, which will give you screenshots of pretty much all of these maps:
http://68.21.28.3/hlmaps.php
UPDATE: So here's the latest. Three hours of testing tonight and this is what I've established. Check the legend to see what I mean. Based on my current rate of progress in testing these maps though, I expect to be done by December. Merry Christmas everybody! Ho ho ho!

You can remove de_karachi and just keep karachi01. They are the same map, Karachi01 is just the updated version. Its not like iceworld and iceworld2k where they are different maps with a similar name.

i'll use my three nominations to get some escape maps in there (also taking in consideration cs_hs isnt even done yet... )
- es_losangeles
- es_trinity (requires a wad file called es_trinity.wad)
- es_jail (requires a wad file called 2maps.wad)
es_losangeles is just completely awesome. i'm suprised its not on the rotation as it is..

Quickly checking the maps I have (and some are on CD, not on this comp), here are the ones you don't have that I would recommend taking a look at:
as_summit (tested on CSR as I remember...) cs_bankrupturefinal cs_bstein2 cs_fabrimex cs_hokkaido cs_jackpot_v2 cs_laboratorium cs_nakazumi cs_sperrgebiet cs_uplink de_burscheid de_crystal de_harbor de_herrenberg de_iced2k de_outrage de_regime de_station de_sting_final de_suntower de_tartarico de_terminal22 de_tiefgarage
A lot, I know but they're all great. I don't download maps unless I've seen pics or heard good things.

man, porter, ask phoenix to find de_747, come on, you know you want to.
PS - you need some help with this? i can bring over my P500 and set up as another HLDS if you need, and we can use my 1G to help download, instead of ravens, i'm working so much it won't matter too much. Let me know...

The list is made of maps I have available to me that I could load on the server like, right now. Until I have losangeles in my hot, sweaty little hands, I have to keep it off the list. Like I said, the nominations only work for maps that are in the list, and therefore only maps that I have right now. Email anything you want to see in the list to me, and it will appear there.

more people need to start nominating maps they would like to have in the rotation..the more nominations the more custom the rotations will be, and the more likely you will get a map in there you want.
if people dont nominate..that would leave the people in charge in making the rotation to choose which maps..and they might be some that you dont like
follow porter's rules: nominate up to 3 maps you would like to see played on the server!!

True Deuce. I'm not entirely sure what Porter meant by nominations though - is the idea that everyone nominates 3 maps to make up a pool and then the admins discuss which of these maps to put into the rotation/map pack?

ok..here is what porter means:
the list he gave and has been updating for the past few days are the list of maps he has available to him. he is currently testing them all to see if any have errors.
now each day is gonna have a certain ammount of standard maps (ex dust, aztec, italy) and a certain ammount of custom maps (ex haste, legato). what is needed from everyone else is at the max 3 nominations of maps you would like to see in the rotation from each person. The more people that nominate, the more variety that will come out of it, and it will mean that the people who are picking the maps for the rotation will have a list of maps people actually want, instead of a list no one wants.
now if you want a map in there that he doesnt have on his list, it means its currently not available to him. in that case, nominate it anyway, but make sure you make available to him the map file or a location of the map file where he can get it.
just make sure you dont nominate more then 3 maps

Ok. But if you want more people to respond someone needs to move this thread to one of the other forums where it's more visible.
And I haven't nominated any maps yet because I can't decide on only 3!

Porter
Think we could get some maps like de_vegas , or some of those other maps that most ppls dont have on the downloads page? |
|
Are you sure we just need the maps you told me about?? Doesn't 1.6 screw some of the maps that were "standard" in a 1.5 install??
just checking,
